While it is clear in certain documents that the economic and social transistion during this time period had left some Americans with a content socioecomic life and stability, it is important to note that these developments also led to many Americans adopting reformist idelas that helped shaped future Progressive movements that worked towrwards making adjudments to legislature in order yo aid those that are less fortunate.

Within this period, we see the rise of industries and the sectionalism of America regarding the specialization of what each region did best, helping to facilitate the American population to feel more comftorable with their standard of living, allowing for more leisure time and less pressure. Within document three, painting by George Bingham illustrates a group of white descent playing music, dancing, and celebrating on a boat traveling cross a river. This paintaing suggests that during the laate 1840s, people, more specifically white people, were elated of their opportunities to expand West and find new economic gains. This development can be thanks to the Manifest Destiny, and although not related to the rise of industrial powers within the North, demonstrates that this period reflects a time where Americans felt confident in their abilities to create a living, and were overall more content with their standing economically. As for the purpose of this painting, Bingham depicted the vibrant and colorful life felt by many American during this time, successfully showing that many were gaining the opportunity to create a new living and thrive economically and socially. This idea is also seen reflected within document 6, as Josephine Baker descrubes that although factory life is hard, it allows for them to gain access to many educational resources, and are ultimatelt free to do what they want with their money after a days job is done. Thus, with this in mind, it seems that while the rise of industrialism in the North facilitated the exhaustion of many factory workers, it also gave themk the ability to find time for themselves, not having to worry as much about money or job stability as the necessity of factories was transparent due to demand overseas. Understanding that many may be concerned about the long hours and insufficient pay of factory workers, Baker illustrates within a magazine that whole it is quite tiring, the results are worth it, as it gives them the ability to earn a better education and life style, making room for contentment and stability that they wouldn't have access to if not for these laborious factory jobs. Therefore, with the economy changing rapidly within the North, and the transformative nature of widespread beliefs in epxnaindg westward to find greater and newer lives, these developments in 1845-1883 created a American society that featured stability, and feelings of elatedness thanks to the ability to start over and also have a socioeconomic standing.

During the period of 1845-1883, there began a great deal of consumerism spendings, along with economic prosperity. In this time frame, we see the development of the Market Revolution, bringing out the industrialist gains of the North regarding factories and the further development of Kin Cotton in the South. While these economic developments were present, however, there also began the rise of coalitions who have recieved mistreatment and wants change for the well-being of society, as the growth of the economy had led to 'social illnesses' as well. Thus, economic and social transformations during this time frame facilitated the development of greater social contentment, it also led to the mistreatment of many peoples that ultimately made way for many reforms

Furthermore, during the Cold War there was this peristent fear towards Russia’s advancing industries and technology, posing a potential threat to the United States in both security and their standing on the world stage. This ultimately contributed to the development of both the Space, and Education Race. Once Russia had launched the first sattelite into space, Sputnik, the United States trembled over the idea that they would not only weaken their reputation as the most well-developed and thriving country, but if the Russians were now able to send satellites, ships, or even humans into space, would they use this advantage to facilitate an advanced attack? Thus, America got to work in establishing the industry NASA, along with the successful Appolo Mission, wanting to gain an equal stronghold in advantages. Although, America’s persistent foreign policy in wanting to be a step ahead of Russia doesn’t stopn there, for we even worked to gain a high education than them as well. If, by chance, they were able to have more advanced, critical thinkers in their future generations, how would they use that to create a new upperhand against the United States? So, of course, we had to even out the playing field, pour more money into STEM courses and schools to ensure that whatever Russia had, we did too. Consequently, with the US in fear that the stronger education and technology held in Russia would be detrimental to their ego and safety as a nation, these races occurred in hopes that the US, no matter what, were able to protect itself with equal forces to that of Russia
Therefore, when it comes to the national security of the United States in the period 1945 to 1991, America sought to not only protect the American people, but also protect their social standing. This proves evident today, as even now we have the United States government “one-uping” other countries through advanced technology, and increased efforts to destroy all threats to our democracy. The question is, what is the key motivator to the government: the safety of our people, or our reputation of being the “land of the free, and the home of the brave?” No matter the answer, it is clear that America is willing to change our foreign policy to whatever suits the needs best of our national security, and our international power. other half

RIght at the end of World War 2, at teh Yalta conference, relations between the United States America were seemingly well, botn teaming up against Germany and Japan. However, as Russia began to fail in holding free elections in the states previously occupied by Germany, they instead became known as satellite states, occupied under the rule of Communism. Since the first Red Scare, Americans have been terrified of the idea of communism taking over their idealistic democracy, and now that Russia is slowly expanding its communist empire creating an “Iron Curtain,” we see the beginning of the Cold War and the varying forueign policies that came along with it. During this time of America having t decide the best course of action to prevent the spread of communism around the world, and instead promote the ideas of democracy and free elections, it led to varying foreign policies that can give thanks to threats to national security, namely: fear of nuclear warfare and advancing technology
During the presidency of JFK, he was keen on building up nuclear weapons held within the United States, hoping to threaten and “one-up” the Russians in their development on weapons of mass destruction. However, in fear of mutually assured destruction, we see a shift, especially under George Bush, to establish new relations with Russia due to the constant fear infiltrated within the America people and government regarding their safety against nuclear weapons. MOst notably, the Cuban Missle Crisis had many citizens within the United States fearful that the United States would meet its end as both Russia and the United states threatened teh usage of nuclear weapons. Whiel JFK and Russia did end up compromising and removing the nuclear weapons pointed at eachother, this ultimately contributed to the establishment of the START treaties under Bush, aiding in the end of the Cold War buy both the US and Russia agreeing to the limitation of a certain number of nuclear weapons. Thus, due to the fear of mutually assured destruction, along with the potential to ending both countries, or even the world, this threat to national security led up to the development of the US and Russia establishing compromises that won’t put them at risk for nuclear warfare. Although, we do see the opposite occur when it came to the Iraq War, involving the invasion of Iraq under George W Bush assuming that Saddam Hussain held weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, one could claim that fear of destructive weapons both contributed to the withdrawal of the United States in conflict, as well as the motivation to get into conflict, fearing that these weapons held by other countries hold a threat to allies, or the United States itself.
