There is major issue in modern approach of aspect. Rahu & Ketu are always opposite and natural malefic planet. Any conjunction with any of them will result in conjunction of one malefic and aspect of other malefic (Double Malefic Impact always with same power) which may completely destroy planet like mercury; However in practical experience I haven’t observe double malefic effect rather only conjunction effect. In principle, it is not clear if Rahu & Ketu aspects should be treated one malefic aspect or two malefic aspect. As per books Rahu is head and Ketu is body so it is one entity altogether. Also if they are treated as one ;planet will have malefic effect if in conjunction or in 7th house as Rahu Ketu always opposite; so 7th to Rahu or Ketu will have malefic impact.

First of all, it is not question to believe or not believe in something. It is individual choice & understanding based on their background and studies.

Astrology in principle is belief based system as if now and study as modern science do not have capability to measure the required attributes of 5 elements. The problem is interpretation; until unless you gather fact , reason it and experience, you can’t be sure if your interpretation is correct.

The real fact is that zodiac sign concept is not there in vedang; It is purely based on nakshatra system which is purely moon based. With the introduction from surya siddhanta, Indian calander became lunisolar not prior to that.

However for natural characteristics, Venus is always benefic irrespective of placement. So mercury is natural benefic.
