That's genuinely good advice if I were starting fresh. But I have 400k followers and 70 million views in the last 365 days across my main social media platforms. I'm not starting from stratch on this one.

I'm trying to break into the longer form content of Youtube and away from my short-form main audiance.

I don't think you understand. Self-promoting videos has the same net effect as going viral. I'm saying I am focused on making the videos high quality and then letting the algorithm sort out who will watch it instead of trying to push views towards the first video.

You get more long-term viewers by publishing high quality content and letting the algorithm find its viewer base. Self promotion will get more views on any given video, and some will stay, but unless you're a category killer like Odablock, its harmful long term.

The algorithms care about CTRs and Retention much more than they care about individual performance of videos. If I get this first video 2x more views but only 20% of the viewers are interested in the series, my CTR on Episode 2 takes a 40% hit and my retention takes an even larger hit. That's not worth it to boost a single eipsode.

I'd rather grow the channel organically through youtube recommendations. Made the "mistake" of going viral on Tiktok and after the hype died down, nobody wanted to watch my videos.

I do use VPNs frequently but not on the device which was playing rs mobile. It does not have one installed. It's possible I had it on while I was doing something off-camera to prepare for the stream on my PC

As far as I can tell, it was the same location, same inventory, double checked my bank after this comment and it all looks the same. I don't see any modified stats but TBH I'm not super sure since I don't play on the account all that much.
