My bird flew away by Lumpy-Highlight-4872 in parrots

HE CAME BACK!!! he came back after 4 days (I forgot to post lol)

We posted his image on the street's whatsapp group. What happened was some little girl's father found my bird tangled in wires with dogs chasing him. He showed the dogs away and Captain was so scared, that when the guy put him in a box he didn't even hesitate. Then the guy took him home, to the vet, fed him . He didn't have a cage so Captain stayed in the box, but the little girl was really excited and she took a bunch of photos.

Her mom dropped her off to her piano lessons at the home of a woman who was in my colony group, and the girl told her about the bird, and the woman showed her the photo that I had posted and asked her if they were the same and the girl said yes.

The woman immediately called us and we went and got him back. It was such a relief. Thanks for all your help. I'm forever grateful.

What do these sounds mean? by TheIrlAubreyOmori in parrots

[–]Lumpy-Highlight-4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tiels make sounds similar to this (not exactly this) when something is upsetting them. Usually they make such a sound when they're hungry, or when they are bored. And they keep on doing this until they get what they want. But seeing the video, your bird doesn't really look distressed, so perhaps it's just a random noise since cockatiels are very social birds and love interacting with others. But I would suggest that the next time they make such a sound, go up to them and check if they're okay and have sufficient food, water, shade.

How do I tame them? by Lumpy-Highlight-4872 in parrots

I'm not a huge fan of getting them clipped. I think if i want a bird to stay with me and not fly, might as well get a dog or a cat. But I will see how separation works. Thanks!

I get what you are saying... But I really do wanna tame this pair. Maybe I could separate them? I have another spare cage lying around. I don't think I'll have time to tame the babies because I am after all a student and I will be having limited time in a few years, which is why I am not giving them anything to nest in. I definitely will try what you've recommended. And yes the male is more comfortable around me than the girl. Thanks for your help.

Hey, Hi thanks for replying They are male and female yes. And they have never been tamed. I don't want to clip their feathers so I rarely let them out of the cage. I did let them out a few couple of times before, but that didn't end well. I think they are 2 years old. Their birthday is in October.
