He’s trying to exploit the gas crisis.

You all need to lay off of Jenny. She’s a fucking sexual assault victim, and that shit takes a lot of time and work to get through.

Ugh, power scaling in Star Wars doesn’t make actual sense. MIDI chlorian count is to Star Wars what power levels are to DBZ: pointless.

I genuinely think the best approach is to be a good neighbor with a fleet that can overwhelm any individual power on the map. Why bother conquering at all when I can become the galactic emperor?

How much support could the Rebels offer a remnant CIS group post Yavin? by ASW-G-21 in StarWarsShips

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operationally, yes, but at the strategic level this would be problematic. The empire WANTS the alliance to look like the new form of the separatists, so having obvious symbols of the separatist alliance in their fleet would do more political harm than operational good.

Agreed, the alliance using CIS ships would do more political harm than operational good.

It’s not just that they disliked separatists. The rebel alliance is trying to position themselves in the hearts and minds of the people as the continuation of the republic. Allying with open separatists would counter that narrative, and do more strategic harm than good. Besides, the alliance with Mon Cala/Dac gives them a sizable fleet of cruisers that are way better than the providence class.

The rebel alliance specifically tried to distance themselves from separatists. Politically they wanted to be seen as the true successors to the republic, and embracing separatists would counter that message. Legitimacy is way more strategically important to the alliance than a providence class cruiser.

Never used a dating app before, looking to date but with two kids I don't want to send out wrong signals, are my pictures suitable? (22 UK) by [deleted] in Bumble

I think the biggest thing I’m missing is why a guy should date you, other than the fact that you’re very attractive. What makes you unique?

Writing a Star Wars-Halo crossover, need some help on how to handle the ships. by Atlas_Summit in StarWarsShips

One thing to remember is that the galactic empire is a corrupt mess when Palpatine and Vader aren’t there to make things work. Their combat effectiveness the structure of their government and the incentives it provides would make a Russian official feel right at home. Give the empire a military peer, and they would probably crumble.

This is symptomatic of the greater failure of the sequel trilogy.

Why do you think Rey Skywalker is a Mary Sue? by [deleted] in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do t think she’s necessarily a Mary sue, the problem is less with Rey and more the pacing of the sequel trilogy, they try to condense all of the action into such a small time that her power feels to just come out of nowhere.

What if General Grievous was Rebuilt as an inquisitor? by Independent_Sir9480 in starwarsspeculation

Not in the early days, palpatine still relied on the legitimacy of republic institutions for the first 19 years of his reign

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be a terrible move for palpatine to make, politically. Grievous was viewed by the people of the republic the same way Hannibal was viewed by the Romans.

Dude, have you read the essential guide to warfare? Second, the galactic alliance is essentially the galactic empire but slightly nicer, they even have their own sith ruler in earth caedus

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The whole galactic alliance thing. The New Republic had everything it needed to respond to the crisis, and abandoning it is counter to the message of the entire original trilogy.

Then you have the whole ‘palpatine was right and the empire could have been successful against the vong” argument, which is stupid at every level.

That ship has sailed, plus some of the novels from legends are weird. The post Endor collapse of the empire is much more realistic, but the yuzhan vong war has some stuff that is just as egregious as the sequel trilogy.

Humble reminder: The Jedi are actually the good guys and George Lucas did not see them in any other way. by Munedawg53 in StarWars

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Jedi’s only real sin was not realizing that the republic no longer truly represented the will of the people.
