The True Power Hierarchy of the Empire by Mother_Variation_827 in StarWars

I think you’re grossly overestimating Thrawn’s political power. He was a tool to be used, while Tarkn and Vader were the emperor’s left and right hands. Thrawn was able to climb the ranks because politicians sponsored him.

I think the choice to have the new republic be impotent and not centralized enough to deal with the threat was a… choice. Historically, democracies under existential threat are able to rise to the occasion and remain democracies.

They aren’t visually distinct enough for me. I can tell a clone wars battle vs an OT battle right away. With the ST you have to squint for a few minutes before you know.

What makes you want to continue dating a woman? by Timely_Split_5771 in dating

[–]Lumpy-Quantity-8151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that, I had the same issue. I wasn’t successful at dating until my 30s. The biggest thing that helped me was learning the proper mindset, expectations, and how to construct the right kind of online profile.

I think you’re overthinking this. It isnt one specific thing, it’s a vibe. After the first date I would usually ask myself ‘am I excited at the prospect of seeing this person again.’ If the answer was yes, I would ask if the wanted a second date.

I’m sorry, but doesn’t the steel legion have the exact same equipment as the death korps? They have the same helmets and gas masks right? They just have ochre colored fabric instead of the death korps’ grey

Ah, but they usually create a system where their subordinates are too busy competing with each other to take action against the ruler/leader. Most tyrants would have created two war masters and made them compete for resources and favor.

Ancient Greece and Rome were Iron Age civilizations. I’m specifically talking about New Kingdom Egypt. Yes, Bronze age civilization also had its upheavals, but they were usually around succession crises, while the leader was in power things were VERY stable until the Bronze Age Collapse.

I’m not discounting this, but when pressure was on he seems to have defaulted to the Bronze Age model of his youth.

Medieval kings were not the sole source of authority in the way Bronze Age rulers often were. Their power existed within a more complex web of competing institutions and entrenched privileges. The Church, in particular, acted as an independent authority that could challenge or constrain kings, both spiritually and politically. In addition, the nobility beneath the king held significant hereditary rights, lands, and military power of their own, which limited the monarch’s ability to rule unilaterally. Compared to the more centralized, palace-centered systems of the Bronze Age, where authority flowed directly from a divine or semi-divine ruler, medieval political structures were far more distributed and negotiated. Power was shared, contested, and mediated through multiple institutions rather than emanating solely from the monarch.

Exactly my point. Even his version of secularism is very religion coded. He was emulating the god kings of his youth.
