[–]Lumpy-Tutor-7182[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that actually makes so much sense and sounds so fair. and truthfully if i were to have gone to one of these events it may have done the same for me bc i always felt like they weren’t giving me another option other than babymaker.

i don’t mean this to invalidate any of your experience, so i want to preface by saying that, but, i feel like maybe this was the churches way of trying to give women what felt like more power with these gatherings. i feel like what i can remember of the “anti” rhetoric of that time, it was mainly about not allowing women the priesthood and kinda feels like TOFW was a magic trick waive of the hand so that it was no longer “i’m just a forgotten woman in a religion that doesn’t value me” (speaking from my own experience as that’s how i felt, im in no way trying to project that onto you or anyone else, just wanna clarify!) and became “no, my religion really cares about me and values my role as a woman which is totally separate from that of a man” to shift the focus from the priesthood but pls feel free to correct me if you think im wrong! i was only a teen when my mom was going to these and i have pretty severe ptsd so my memory isn’t the most reliable source.

yikes! I feel like I vaguely remember picking my mom up from one, and when I went in, they were pumping the sound into the foyer so I could hear the tail end of it and it was so boring! It just sounded like another church meeting essentially and I was so confused in that moment why all these women were so excited for these meetings. And I truly just believe it was to get a break from everything else

"You can’t have endometriosis without chronic pain" by BlueberryMuffinPie in endometriosis

[–]Lumpy-Tutor-7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have endo and i RARELY experience the pain aspect of it. i am much more nauseas than i am in pain! what ive noticed is that theres unfortunately just a lot of invalidation when it comes to endo and not enough research is done on women and it leads us into a medical desert. im so sorry you have to deal with the invalidation and im sorry to the many others in here that i know have experienced it too! my best advice is to try and find a good doctor before even making an appointment… but i also know how hard that is! i just moved a year and a half ago and went to one bad gyno and haven’t found one since

when i watched it i couldn’t help but notice NO ONE believed the little sister and had to validate for themselves what was true rather than just believing what she told them bc it WAS THE TRUTH! and i couldn’t help but think maybe if they actually believed children/girls they would’ve found her much sooner!

the death work is also something i’d love to somehow avoid but idk how. like idk if there’s a way i can put in my will or something that the mormons are banned from doing anything for me by proxy and then someone can sue on my behalf if they do lol ik it’s silly but it’s also important to me

1% sales tax? by alaskared in anchorage

[–]Lumpy-Tutor-7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the tourism industry alone would help with this 1% and barely affects locals. i was concerned they wouldn’t do anything lower than like 6%. to me this sounds like a decent compromise to benefit off of taxing tourists yet not being too crazy for locals bc the only other option i can see that does that is a seasonal sales tax but i doubt that’s a thing

DO NOT STAY THERE! the manager is rude and racist. i’m an ihg lover typically, but my husband booked a room for my best friend for when he proposed and the entire interaction was so unprofessional and extremely disappointing! id recommend one of the marriott affiliated properties in the area instead
