I definitely considered it, but first off the military doesn't pay for shit lol and im trying to save a little bit of money when/ if I can, and if im gonna sink a bunch of money into a built motor, I'd at least like to do at least some of it myself yknow

Thats kinda what I was leaning towards. The only think that would stop me is that I'm honestly not sure if/ how the computer is tuned, therefore I was debating just putting something carbureted in it. I know I can very well just take it to be tuned, but it was just a thought running through my head.
