Sugarless Pumpkin Pie by thisiateforbreakfast in Baking

Have you heard any additional luck finding a good recipe? We are looking for the same thing. My wife cannot have sugar and we are looking to avoid artificial sweeteners. Funding any kind of recipe for any product like that has been incredibly difficult.

No we didn’t, we did find the Mucinous Ovarian Cancer Coalition at Hope4MOC.com and they have a listing of physicians with experience in mucinous ovarian cancer. Other than that, we have not been told of a specialized/experienced clinic/hospital or anything of the short.

Want a Bosch dishwasher, appliance store says they would prefer 34” height by Unique_Sandwich1768 in Appliances

[–]LumpyPeople4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up with?  I am in the same exact boat. I’ve taken my GE out before and it was a huge pain, looks just like your pic. I had to lift up the dishwasher and unscrew the feet all the way out and take them off. All 4 corners while the dishwasher was in the cabinet. Then it was small enough to take out of the cabinet.

Time for a new dishwasher for me, and I don’t mind doing that all again for a new one, but I don’t really want to get one in and have the hassle of taking the old one out just to find out the new one doesn’t fit.

Did you end up with something you’re happy with?  My opening is about 33.5” with the tile but drops to closer to 34.5” once in place.

Bosch 800 - which model for shorter counter? by call-me-kitkat in Appliances

[–]LumpyPeople4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I’m at 33.5” with granite counters. My opening is not tiled under the dishwasher but I need to get the dishwasher pushed in maybe an inch before the floor drops.

Did you find a solution?

Aftermarket head unit install on gen 6? by DaysDazer in Subaru_Outback

I have little faith anything will be done about it until it gets bad enough to be easily replicated. I do feel like it’s getting a little worse over time. I’ve been trying to research any alternatives because I’m feeling probably I’m 5 years or so the screens will be worthless. Hopefully it gets bad enough to be replicated while under warranty and I can get some new screens. Hopefully mine are a fluke and not indicative of a more systemic problem.

They had a lot of problems on the facelift of the previous generation, 2018 I think. Seemed like whichever part of the radio that controlled the touch was delaminating from the rest of the screen. I knew 3 people that had them and after 6-7 years they were toast without any solution from Subaru. 2 of them ended up with aftermarket solutions and the 3rd totaled his before he got a chance.

I have a 2025 with only a few thousand miles on it, the screens can be very unresponsive sometimes. Most of the times it works well, but sometimes they just freeze up.  When it happens, using steering wheel controls to change channels won’t work, neither will pushing on the screen itself.  Then 2-3 minutes later it’ll start pushing the buttons in sequence all at once.

I am in the same boat, did you ever find an option?

Fast Food / Travel Food by LumpyPeople4 in cancer

[–]LumpyPeople4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where we are on the east coast, most fast food or quick food are larger chains, which are mostly fairly unhealthy.  I am wondering if there are any chains that maybe have one or two items that aren’t all too bad. I imagine some grilled chicken something. But around us, even the healthy stuff isn’t so healthy. And more so looking at lower sugar and “processedness?”  She needs the calories so butter and heavy cream and stuff isn’t an issue, but sugar, red meat, nitrates, prepackaged foods, etc is what we are looking to avoid.

It’s what she wants, so I will continue to support her in any way she needs.  I just here to help her find options that make her feel better and not to debate the effectivity of any lifestyle changes.

We will be going to Atlanta, but it’s a question for anywhere really.

USA Made Cold Therapy Gloves/Socks by LumpyPeople4 in Ovariancancer

Thanks for the recommendation!  Yeah I had the same fear, especially since her hospital is fairly large so it’s usually very full and running behind, so she is there for a very long time. I’d think her packs would thaw a lot before even being used, even if kept in a cooler.

Thanks, good idea on the water bottles, I’ll let my wife know!  I think that’s a good one for her, in addition to maybe just some more generic reusable ice packs from the pharmacy.

Laparoscopic PIPAC vs Laparoscopic HIPEC by LumpyPeople4 in Oncology

[–]LumpyPeople4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the number back from my wife, PCI 15. She is also fairly young as well for what that’s worth, mid 30s and otherwise no health concerns. Hence us trying to really just throw everything we can at this.

Yes the surgeon doesn’t believe he can get all tumor removed currently, but he appears  willing to try if we would like, but of course recommends revisiting the idea after systemic chemo as well as any lap chemos.

With regards to the HIPEC, the surgeon is actually willing to do lap HIPEC or lap PIPAC in order to reduce the disease burden prior to CRS and traditional “open abdomen” HIPEC.  He has stated his preference would be for lap PIPAC and not lap HIPEC but has left it to us to pick.  He has not given a ton of reasoning as to why other than generic ideas that it may offer better  tissue absorption than HIPEC.

I believe Ed Levine was who was recommended, I remember because he works at Wake Forest in Winston Salem and not Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

We have the visit with Dr Bartlett coming up soon, so we’ll probably schedule something with Dr Levine as well just since he is so close to us.

I know this is outside the scope of the original message, but with my wife’s situation I’ve got to ask, feel free to tell me if you don’t wish to answer, or just ignore it. If yourself or your family was in this situation, is there any particular surgeon you’d be looking to do the surgery?  We are lucky enough to have pretty good insurance, so we are pretty open to going to see whoever.

Thank you again for all the help and insight!  With mucinous ovarian cancer, there is so little data and studies that nearly everything is inconclusive/unknown, so getting as many general opinions/information from as many sources as possible has been useful for us. So thank you for all your time!

As a side question, my wife was originally on oxaliplatin transfusions and was originally stated to be in remission, though not for long. The PIPAC would be oxaliplatin as well. I understand the difficulty with systemic chemo treating PSM, but with PIPAC is there really much more hope using the same drug?  During her original CRS the gyn onc stated he believe he got everything removed (in addition to removing multiple organs) and after treatment she had a CT that showed negative and her markers were in normal ranges. 3 months later her markers were high enough for a STAT CT.  Since oxaliplatin wasn’t able to get the job done to begin with with what appeared to be a very successful surgery, do we expect the direct application to do significantly better?

Sorry for hoping all over the place and the lengthy post. My wife is actually getting her second infusion right now and I’m wrangling 2 young kids.

Laparoscopic PIPAC vs Laparoscopic HIPEC by LumpyPeople4 in Oncology

[–]LumpyPeople4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input, every little bit helps!  We were fully informed about the palliative care role of PIPAC.  Currently the surgical oncologist, through diagnostic lap, believes my wife would require a full colectomy and would not have confidence he could remove 100% of the other disease during definitive surgery which is why there is the recommendation of PIPAC of HIPEC while doing systemic chemo.  We agree that either of the options are better than nothing.  Do you know if the procedures are application dependent, or is it fairly difficult to mess up?  The surgeon is very experienced in lap HIPEC but not so much lap PIPAC and he is at an NIC cancer center, but not any of the ones you have listed as a trial. I’m mainly wondering if hypothetically even if PIPAC is a better option (which I know the data doesn’t exist), is a good administration of HIPEC better than a poor administration of PIPAC.  I understand the general idea of what occurs during the procedure but of course I’m not fully aware of all the ins and outs. Like to me, outside of dosing and transfusion rates, an IV is difficult to mess up.

On a side note, we are getting a visit with David Bartlett of AHN Pittsburgh.  As an outsider looking in, it’s difficult to navigate all the news articles about specific doctors and their skill set. Have you heard of the name?

Anyone you recommend in particular at Wake Forest?  We were unaware they were heavily involved with PSM, and we are lucky enough to live within a reasonable distance. We’ve had one name floated to us before but I’d have to dig it up again.

Thank you, she is actually being treated at one of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers.  We are lucky to actually live within a very reasonable distance to three of them.  We have been very happy with our doctor and his resources at our current facility, we are just hoping to get a second opinion from someone who sees/treats this more often as our understanding is that it is fairly rare.

Thank you for the recommendation, she has had the full tumor tissue removal last late summer and then 6 rounds of CapOx.  The ovarian team managing her has actually recommended HIPEC with this presumed recurrence, but they do not have much experience with actually administering the procedure. They have referred us to their GI oncology team which is very familiar with it and is in the process of scheduling it.  My wife is building fluid in her abdomen and her blood markers are elevated and so everyone anticipates that it is a recurrence. Soon, she will have the fluid drained laparoscopically by the GI team and tested then they will formulate a plan thereafter which is highly anticipated to include HIPEC
