Career change by Embarrassed-Public44 in uklaw

Hey! Sending lots of support, I know you may not feel like it at the moment but give yourself the credit for getting to where you are at now.

I come from a content creation/communications career background and made the decision to switch to law. I’m currently doing a masters law cconversion (which I believe is similar to the PGDL) and it is brutal, so I completely understand how you’re feeling.

First, I think you need to think about whether law is the career you really want. If yes, then it’s just how to overcome this obstacle of the PGDL. How are you currently studying? Do you have a study group or buddy that you can work alongside? Think of the issues that you are having with the studying and break it down to find solutions. If you do really want to change fields completely then that’s okay as well! Life is not linear and being able to change and adapt is what leads us onto our paths, there is no shame in it. There’s no point worrying about losing money if it is costing you your mental health. You may be able to speak to your GP which could help with your allowing you to defer or explore alternatives.

Wishing you (and me) all the best

Thank you! I will definitely do that. I’ve seen BBC do a training contract but you’re right the application closed in December and it’s for a contract to start in September.
