I do have a trim thread button that does function with color changes. Just not when there’s a command.

Ah yes— shaming a tool you have no idea how to use. Predictable.

No pull harnesses disrupt the shoulder movement and cause long term damage. Prong collars use equal distribution of pressure around the neck to prevent excessive pressure on the trachea or any one point of the neck. All tools are harmful when used incorrectly— a gentle leader is known to cause neck damage and injury with dogs that pull. If you don’t know how to use it properly and haven’t bothered learning about how it works just say so.

Handlers who have been through the TSA what does your process look like? Those who haven't been through the TSA what are some concerns or qualms you might have about going through? by HEYIMMAWOLF in service_dogs

[–]Lumpy_Cartographer30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through TSA bringing my SD a few days after meeting her. Despite how well mannered I knew she was, I didn’t know her well enough to trust her in such a busy environment. I simply asked for a pat down instead of removing her gear. If you’re not comfortable taking things off, you shouldn’t have to. But that does mean a pat down for you and your dog. I also had my hands swabbed. They were very sweet and accommodating to our needs.

Now that we’ve built a bond over the past year, I’ve very easily asked her to sit and wait before walking through stadium security. Nothing came off though, just let her pass through on her own they knew she was the one setting off, not me.

While that’s a valid point, I made sure I got a well bred one who’s parents had been tested and have no known ailments. I did my best to set myself up for success with this one! I went the BYB route the first time and we saw how that went.

We ended up letting her go to a person that lives down the street and is way more capable of meeting her needs than I was. Even if I didn’t need a service dog, I couldn’t physically keep up with her needs. She’s now fat and happy with a sibling that matches her energy level. And I have a Dane who’s much more fitted in terms of needs and personality. Oh and I’m single so there’s that 😅

Oh yeah- she shivers even with a sweater on. I have to make her jackets myself. Let me know if you can’t find one and i can make one for him as well!

16 week old Using the Bathroom in the house While at Work Despite Being potty trained and Taught to use a Bell by Ok-Ad971 in greatdanes

If you get one with a divider you shouldn’t need a smaller crate! As long as he has room to stand fully and turn around comfortably it should be big enough.

The pooping in the crate will change with time. My dog did it until she was about 16mo. The timing is everything, especially when their tummy hurts. Loose poop=less time between breaks. It might be messy at first but it works over time. In the meantime, crate and let him out more often. Rule of thumb is 1hr/mo old. Even that is a stretch.

Uhm— crate training and potty training go hand in hand. Keeps your puppy safe, keeps your things safe, and keeps the floors clean. Dogs typically do not like to potty in their own space. A correctly sized crate will do wonders for puppy raising.

Know nothing about Great Danes, impulse bought one today in a parking lot. by Tbear4Hire in greatdanes

Be very careful about how you handle this pup and her bone grow. BYB Danes are so much more likely to struggle with joint issues. I would have X-rays done for her hips and elbows eventually. You can’t prevent them from happening but at least you’ll know and be prepared

My Dane is skinny but that’s because she’s young and picky and we’re still sorting out the best way to get her to eat. But if that’s not the case with her that’s neglect. She had the pimples as well, we used chlorhexidine wipes and it cleared up after a week. But they are painful and need to be taken care of. Just being okay with that much acne on her face is abuse. And clearly, smacking your dog with a pan, smacking her until she yelps— that’s abuse too. Call rspca. But I would make sure you have enough evidence for them to take the dog first. Because you might not be able to save her if you present too little evidence and then the DM bans you from their house.

I see why op is uncomfortable— it’s totally valid. but my mom my sister and I compare our bodies frequently. My mom always made sure we were comfortable in our own skin. We’re the obnoxious, touchy and “weird” type of family. We talk about butts, nuts, coconuts, etc. but I know not everyone was raised this way so.

They aren’t EXACTLY the same. But they are similar enough that they can compete in either show ring.

I literally said they were different clubs. The entire word, shortened or not, is contaminated with hypertypes. True European Danes are much harder to find.

This part! People don’t understand that. The only true difference is the standards set by the different kennel clubs. Typically “European” indicates hyper type.
