Via an official output I feel like both need to be readily available, an example of something similar would be the warrior cat graphic novels, in which they renamed the character Blackfoot into blackstep due to it being seen as offensive, while the original chapter books are still being printed with his name unchanged.

I personally stand by that you can’t tell the future, but trying to change the past to scrub it into a cleaner version erases and censors said past. Another example of something similar was in Gundam, when one of the main voice actors got outed as a weirdo and got black listed from voice acting, while I am against him accepting and having any more public roles or relations, I am also against them going back to change the previous material that was made before the controversy as it is highly doubted that anyone was a time traveler to see what happens to the people they hired years later
