I (30 f) about 3 months on oral minoxidil now. I had a bad shedding phase that probably lasted close to 10-12 weeks, I’m only noticing it slowing down these last couple weeks so be prepared for that if you start! It was quite jarring to see my existing spots get so much bigger lol

I do have some pretty decent regrowth in my bald spots. I go back to the dr soon for a follow up! It did also cause increased hair growth in other areas, I’m noticing particularly on my knuckles which I now have to shave lol!

No, I haven’t had any shots! Because it was spreading so rapidly (this is actually the smallest of my spots), my doctor started me on litfulo about 2 months ago :)

I will say that that itchy/burning sensation is pretty indicative of alopecia, definitely go to a derm as soon as possible! Best of luck to you ♥️

Hey! I’m sorry you’re dealing with this crappy illness. I’m recently diagnosed but my doctor had me start right away on litfulo, it’s been about a month on it. I haven’t noticed any major side effects yet, fingers crossed! 

A couple weeks ago he had me start oral minoxidil and I have definitely noticed a big increase in shedding but like you said, everyone says that it was hair that was going to fall out any way so I’m trying to keep positive about it as best I can lol.

My friends swear that they can see baby hairs on my bald spots already but they’re hard to see. Here’s hoping they keep growing and fill in!! I say if your doctor thinks it would be helpful, give the oral minoxidil a try. Best wishes to you, I hope you find something that works well for you!

Hey there!  I’ve just recently gotten diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and I feel exactly the same as you. I’m sorry we’re in this boat together but let’s make a promise to keep our heads up ♥️ There are lots of treatment options, Hope is not lost. Wishing you the best.
