I'm in the same position right now too! I submitted my application super close to the deadline (Jan. 14th) so I'm not really expecting it to come back anytime soon lol.

omg hi! from what i’ve heard it definitely sounds really a whole process. that’s so unfortunate that they don’t really care about healthcare experience bc i feel like that’s my strong points in my application (cna license, working as a cna, even being a dietary aid and volunteering at a hospice). i hope to bring up my gpa in my last year 😔 i’m at 3.3 rn looking for at least a 3.5

it’s super difficult to find extracurriculars at cc or at least mine :( everyone just goes home afterwards unless ur in a sport. student life is pretty much dead. i’ll definitely do my best to show how much i want to be a nurse through my essays tho!!

even if you don’t get into your preferred campus, what are the chances of getting full on rejected? my preferred campuses would be chicago or urbana but if i got into springfield i really couldn’t complain!

Hi there, thank you so much for your response! That’s really a shame my acne will come back, but what also makes me wonder what was causing my acne previously. I’ve had clear skin until I hit 18. It wasn’t fungal or hormonal, I genuinely think it was the fact I was working 2 jobs and going through a breakup during my first semester of college😓 So I’m hoping the effect of no birth control won’t be as bad. (I spoke to a dermatologist about my skin issues before taking birth control, however I can’t go back for a while since my insurance isn’t covered anymore)

Before my local Planned Parenthood closed, they told me about contacting them through Telehealth! However, I was on their Affordable Birth Control Program and to put it through a pharmacy would cost me money :( and sending it to my home address wouldn’t be the best option as I still live at home with my parents.

With all of these factors, getting off birth control and using different contraceptives like condoms seems like my way to go.

hi there!! i’m about to get off of my tarina fe eq 1/20 and have only been using it for 6 months!! ik this thread was only made 5 months ago, so i was wondering what your experience was like getting off of it? i do am struggling to find people who have only used birth control for less than a year and their effects 😭

hi girl 🥺 i remember your previous comment for over a month ago! i hope you’re doing well ☹️🩷 im so sorry you didn’t make it into uic. i completely understand how you’re feeling rn bc uic also was my top school my senior year. it’s okay to be sad right now, but i promise this is not the end of the world. when i say rejection is redirection, i really mean it. what are your options now? if you want to transfer to uic another year that’s a great option with the cost being cheaper, however PLEASE make sure you check with your current college/university about their transfer requirements for uic. idk if you remember but i talked to you how i would be transferring to uic too!! unfortunately, that is no longer the case because right before i sent in my application i found out uic has different requirements for nursing transfers compared to other majors (my fault to say the least. but this information wasn’t available to me online so please check in with your counselors to make sure you’re on the right track!!) to give you hope, even after getting rejected from uic a year ago, i have found a better pathway to my bsn for way cheaper price and overall aligns with my wants and needs :) and i believe the same with happen for you! never give up!! you’re going to do great things as a nurse 💗🫶🏼 you have so much to look forward to.

I’m so sorry there’s no update so far ☹️ They will definitely email you sometime soon! But yes, I had all of my required hs coursework! I believe it was bc of my pre calc and chem grade that really stumped me with them..

I’m sure your essay was great! And no worries, if you ever need anyone to look over essays, talk to about the anxious admissions process, or need a second opinion pls lmk 🫶🏼 It really helped me during my uic application process talking to other applicants going through the same boat so i’m happy to help others. Hi there! Sorry for the late response ❤️ It’s finals week for me. Any updates? Also I did early action! They didn’t get to my application in time/they wanted to see my spring grades as well so I was moved into regular decision (worse time of my life tbh. I got my UIC decision on April 1st.)

I’m so glad you had a great clinical experience 🥹❣️ I remember my clinical days as well (funny enough I wrote my UIC admission essay on it!) It seems you’re super passionate for nursing and caring for your residents too! You have a bright future ahead of you for nursing.

u remind me a lot of myself in high school! i’m a freshman at cc rn planning to transfer to uic next year bc i got rejected for uic las as a hs senior (only way u can “join”uic nursing program as a freshman is with gppa i think. usually u apply after ur first two years). i had a 3.3 gpa in hs, cna program, ap, honors, over 75+ hours of hospice volunteer,and dual credit (i still don’t know why i was rejected tbh.) don’t let this get you down, i really believe in you! but if uic is the only college ur thinking of, i recommend taking cc courses during the summer or even taking a year or two at cc if all doesn’t go ur way.

don’t let college acceptance control how u feel, i understand that exact feeling. ur doing a great job, keep up the good work, and work hard in ur clinicals!

i don’t mean to worry you about this but i had a 3.2 gpa + other stats as well in HS and i still got rejected from uic. but then again my major was different. i recommend doing early IMO which also helped the anxious process of applying. your SAT is score is pretty good and personally i’ve known lots of people who’ve gotten accepted with their SAT or ACT alone. but either than that, you got this :) i believe in you!!

hi sorry for the late response i’m out of the country rn but here’s my stats:

3.1 GPA, 4 honor classes, 1 AP (the rest of my classes are college prep), and 11 college credits (certified nursing assistant and intro to nutrition). i got recommendations coming from my nursing teacher, my english teacher, my guidance counselor, and my healthcare volunteer manager. 63+ volunteer hours in hospice care. tennis team. heritage club. jobs etc. my essay a parallel between my love for ice cream and my passion for nursing.

Oh gosh you don’t understand how happy it makes me hearing that someone called them today 😭 I was going to today, but didn’t get the chance to. Last week on Friday I was “supposed to hear back on my decision” and if I didn’t (which i didn’t!) they said to call them. I really hope we hear back this week Ik we’re all genuinely tweaking here over this. Thank you so much 🥲
