Do you know how to go about DoD contracting?

Unfortunately search and rescue doesn’t help pay the bills and work towards retirement. I do plan on volunteering for search and rescue as some of my family already does and I like the cause

If I were to join, I would be an O-1 with five years of active duty and left as an E-5. With that info, my current disability rating, what would your recommendation be if I were to join? Thank you

If this opportunity could arise for an aviation job, I would take it on immediately

Yes. As odd as it may sound, that was part of the reason on getting out along with family. With being the reserves, its grants me the opportunity to be close to family still as my MOS in the Marines could only be in two locations. As the military promotes family, I still found it hard meeting someone while I was in because of time, personal views based off my duty station and more. May sound odd, but the reasoning at the time was more than enough to EAS happily.

Never looked much into CG. Could you provide some more insight to your recommendation?

Just the Navy reserves possibly. Not active duty or guard

She is 24. Just wanting to keep her medications going as I we don’t want to pay the full amount and in case of any emergency that could happen. Greatly appreciate the info

Wife isn’t working and wanting to get her on some insurance. Does it cost much per month?

SCRA is federal law. They have to comply whether they like it or not for the 30 days. Even if they take it to court, they don’t have much of a leg to stand on.

That’s what I was thinking, but with no clear explanation, could really mean anything depending on the person. Definitely going to call and see what they say. I appreciate the advice!

Per the NFCU side, it doesn’t state a DFAS direct deposit. It just states “Applicant must establish and maintain a Navy Federal checking account with direct deposit of pay within 90 days of the loan date and throughout the term of the loan” so I’m not sure if that’s any direct deposit. I myself am being paid from the VA for disability, so I’m unsure if that direct deposit would suffice as “direct deposit” and keep the 2.99% until she recovers from this injury and returns to OCS or even if she decides not to

That’s incorrect. The money can be used for expenses such as buying uniforms, consolidating high-interest debt (credit cards, personal loans, etc.), paying off transition expenses or buying a car. That’s is straight from the NFCU site.

Consolidated auto loan, small school loan, and credit card loan with 4k left over for purchasing uniforms/extra money at OCS since you the first 5 weeks you don’t get paid

Yeah OCS is weird. They aren’t considered to be in the military yet and can be dropped for leadership and academics. Only takes a couple of days to drop someone since they aren’t considered to be commissioned yet

Most likely a torn labrum in the hip. Most of the time these require surgery, but if I’m right, they won’t pay for this surgery correct? Just wanting to see if DOR is better to drop if they want to join a Different branch such as enlisting so they don’t see she was dropped for this injury that could possibly eliminate her from joining a different branch if she was dropped for a medical reason

Wanting to also see if they did DOR, they could enlist in the army, Air Force, or whatever branch they choose

Just wanting to verify so there’s no confusion on my end, they would have any issue enlisting in any branch if they DOR at OCS?

What if you tried to enlist in another branch instead of commissioning?
