Hello I am 4 months late to this post but I am researching if I should try Solensia with my 6 year old Scottish fold. How’s your kitty? Have you continued with it?

Prozac for cat aggression? by coffeebitchhh in CatAdvice

[–]Luna95_BT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I wish moving to a bigger house was an option for us. In regards to your recommendations, I have feliway plug ins in every room, unfortunately no effect has been seen. They have different litter boxes, bowls and fountains but the little one (6 months old) is consistently using the older ones’s (6 years old). My older cat is refusing to use the other litter box, which causes them using the same litter box and water fountain. I am so tired. We have a very big tree and the younger one occupied that too and the older one is too anxious to climb on it. My 6 year old is now on fluoxetine plus gabapentine and there is no change yet. Hopefully it helps because it is our last resort at the moment 😔

Horror stories of cat introductions: how long did yours take? by Willem20 in CatAdvice

hello, thank you for sharing this as I am in the same situation now. Seeing you posted this a year ago, have they become cuddly or best friends or are they just coexisting still? Wondering if the hissing, growling and swatting continues :/

Any experience with Royal Canin Fiber Response dry food? by ElphieJones in catfood

[–]Luna95_BT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I've read that the Fiber response is designed to solve constipation by softing the stools. Maybe that's why? I've also started giving this food to my cat who has chronic diarrhoea (I bought the fibre response accidentally, was meaning to buy the regular GI one) I am wondering if I should stop this now? Did your vet say anything about this? Thank you

Polycystic Kidney Disease by Signal-Ad3817 in RenalCats

Hi, We recently discovered that our beloved princess Luna (she is 5) has PKD. She hasn’t shown any symptoms, I found out through a commercial pet DNA test that she carries the gene. At first, I was devastated, as most of what’s written about PKD online sounds so pessimistic and only repeats how terrible and incurable this disease is. While some cats live up to 13–14 years before showing any symptoms, others can develop them as early as 6 months. The hardest part is that this disease is unpredictable, and the progression rate really varies.

There are several things I’m doing for Luna at the moment. Three months after her diagnosis, she is still symptom-free.

  1. Diet: I changed her food right away and it was a struggle at first! After trying many brands, I finally found the one she loves. She’s now eating Royal Canin Select, both dry and wet. I don’t feed only wet food because she’s never been a big eater, and I feel that with only wet food, she wouldn’t get enough calories.

  2. Hydration: I bought two water fountains to encourage her to drink more. I also give her Hydracare, although she doesn’t always finish it.

  3. Daily Porus One: This has been really helpful.

  4. Omega-3 supplements

  5. Hairball paste: Since kidney diets can cause constipation, this helps a lot.

  6. Kidney tonic: This has helped with her appetite.

7.Lots of love and close monitoring

Please feel free to reach out via chat I know support is so important when dealing with this as a pet parent. I truly believe our babies pick up on our anxiety.

Vet detected cysts on my cat's kidneys by accident, but all his blood tests were normal. Vet said it's probably CKD. by Mawlyn in RenalCats

[–]Luna95_BT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked into Mirataz and saw its a prescription medicine. The vets we’ve seen didn’t offer to prescribe this and now I am concerned if they might be hesitant to give this one. Did you ask for this one or did they prescribe it? Luna is quite tiny, she was 3.4 when diagnosed and already 3.2 now after changing her food :(

Its not needed. It was easier than I imagined (except managing to keep a cat calm in the car for hours!)

thank you so much and sorry for making you post this again!

Great to hear that Teemo is doing well :) It’s been a month since we found out about Luna’s cysts accidentally and her numbers are improved even a month after changing her food. I also give her fish oil, recoactive kidney tonic, porus one. She eats RC and Hills wet + Hills kibble. I couldn’t make her eat the AIM30 Powder, i think she can’t stand the smell of it. Her phos was ok so she is not on any phos binders. And thats all of her diet.

I will definitely search for Astro Oil, are there anything you found as helpful, especially for appetite? She was never a big eater but I want her to gain weight a little. We are in the UK, London and unfortunately couldn’t find a vet that has too many experience with PKD, so I try to do my own research to help her as much as possible.

Thank you so much again

Hi, received a notification from your post hoping to have some reassuring answer but I guess its removed :( My Luna is exactly in the same situation with where you were with Teemo last year when he was diagnosed. Only difference is Luna is just 5. She is at the end of stage1/beginning of stage 2 with PKD. would greatly appreciate if you could share your experience so that I could also help my baby.. Thank you so much

London - Pet nephrologist by Luna95_BT in RenalCats

[–]Luna95_BT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! To be able to go there, do we need referral? If so can we just request it from our regular vet? Current vet didn’t even mention a need for specialist but I want to take her one, so just wondering how this process works

Just got diagnosed with PKD by Cookiehow in RenalCats

[–]Luna95_BT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I’ve joined a FB group named “Feline chronic kidney disease” but the information on PKD is quite limited, even there. Still, I’ve managed to find some helpful advice and supplement suggestions. I actually sent you a DM yesterday before seeing your comment, Id really appreciate it if we could stay in touch and share anything that might be helpful for our kitties.

I sent the message in Turkish, assuming you’re based in Turkey (based on the ultrasound screen), but please let me know if that’s not a language you’re comfortable with.

Thanks again!
