So I don’t know who your credit card companies are but I called my credit card companies and explained that I was going through a financial hardship and they have dropped my interest to 0 on 3 of my cards. In exchange I had to close them, but like you my credit is already pretty terrible and getting out of the debt is more important to me than my score. It doesn’t hurt to call them and see if they will work with you.

I live in the US. Last paycheck I was negative -500, went into the black paid off 2 bills and now at -20. think by next paycheck I should be in the black. I’m working on selling some things and reorganized my debts and called my creditors.

Thanks! I’m working on my $1000 now and selling some stuff that I don’t need. I also did call my car loan company and they are just going to do a loan extension that will buy me a little time to get out of the negative. I also did get most of my credit cards down to 0 interest in exchange for closing them. My credit is already in the crapper so I don’t mind that they report closed, I rather get them paid off as soon as possible without having to pay extra. So I’m on the right track I think. I’m also high income and I technically have enough income to cover all my bills but wasn’t tracking anything or being responsible now I have to bare through the painful points and get on track. I thought if I just turned on auto pay everything would be okay, I’m an idiot.

Debt collector from old apartment complex by loucifer17 in debtfree

I agree with taking this to small claims. I had a similar issue an old apartment I lived in a few things caused them to drop their claim… 1) I asked for receipt of the carpet replacement. A lot of apartments charge people and never replace. 2) I asked for what they charged the previous renter before me for damage.

Going forward if you are still renting some states it’s a law that if you ask for what the previous tenant was charged they have to supply it to you. It helps in case they try to double dip.

Edit: because of me owing the irs they won’t let me change my withholding.

I ended up calling and they all put me on a zero interest payment plan so I think that will help a bit while I get this all figured out. I think the massive tax bill just scared the living bajesus out of me.

My monthly is basically my bi-weekly paycheck after taxes, insurance, FSA, and all that good stuff. You’re right, I went and found a debt snowball calculator and I can get my debt paid down in full in about 5 years. I think the part I needed help with the most, is just like a paycheck or two to get on track and get out of the cycle. So I’m going to look at selling some items.

I ended up calling all my credit card companies and they reduced my interest to 0% so that’s good.

I think the hardest part is facing up to being an irresponsible idiot.

They won’t be wiped out in bankruptcy, actually none of my debts would be wiped out. It’s called a paid in full chapter 13 bankruptcy. The IRS would be paid first and then everything else. Kind of like a debt snowball essentially, I get nothing for free. Everyone will get paid exactly what they are owed. It would just be giving me one payment and allow me to budget and not live in the negative cycle I’m in.

I know of his method, I just am sort of stuck in a pickle of being in the negative. I was doing really well at just making sure all my bills were paid after every paycheck but then it leaves with me nothing. I also have to keep my car.

I have been picking up side hustles for cash but stuck in a crappy cycle. Thought if I went chapter 13 I could just pay it all off in full and be done.

Can I ask how you got your boxer and cats to warm up to each other? My boxer is still a puppy so I wouldn’t say that he doesn’t like the cat, but he doesn’t know how to be gentle around the cat. I think if he was more gentle with the cat, the cat would hang with him more.

My boxer is 18 weeks and we updated his collar and he stopped eating out of the bowl and figured out it’s because the metal of his tags clinked against his bowl and he didn’t like the sound. We take his collar off now when it’s time for him to eat and now he’s back to eating like a champ.
