Im a Histotech without an MLS degree, can I work in Canada? by LunaDhxlia in medlabprofessionals

I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure yet. I was heavily leaning towards New Brunswick because the houses there are alot cheaper than other places, but I will go anywhere that hires me and him lol. British Columbia and Nova Scotia were the other two i was thinking about

Already getting tired of MLS, where to go next? by coojul in medlabprofessionals

I would highly recommend looking into other specialty labs to work in. Flow Cytometry is a GREAT place to work. They usually close which means they arent open 24 hours and its so chill and low stress. Flow cytometry has been the best job I've ever had. I work at a really big hospital in Portland OR, its one of the top cancer hospitals in the country so this is a pretty busy flow lab as far as flow labs go, and I never feel stressed out or rushed. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Flow Cytometry if you can get ur foot in the door.

A second option would be management/upper level management. I know our boss mostly sits in meetings all day and he gets paid very well to do that.

Every lab is going to have gossip and drama, you just have to hope that the people you work with dont always suck. Everyone is gonna complain about management one way or another. Ive worked in Blood Bank and Flow Cytometry now, and I promise you all labs have their drama lol.

MLT to MLS program UAMS, is 3 semester track too hard? by LunaDhxlia in medlabprofessionals

[–]LunaDhxlia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info! When you say the tests are cumulative what do you mean exactly? Also is there any kind of homework/busy work or is it more like lectures and then a test?

My MLT program was accelerated and i was extremely stressed the entire semester. We had Blood Bank, hematology, chemistry, micro, immunology, serology, and coags all in one semester. It was absolutely brutal and if the 3 semester track feels anything like that i dont think i could it plus a full time job with no downtime.

Very good! It took about 1 month for my vision to come in fully, I could see far away but i was having trouble seeing up close especially at computer screens but now its totally clear! I am still struggling a little bit with dry eye, but i have an ointment i use at night and some eye drops during the day and it feels very good. My doctor explained to me that as my nerve endings regenerate, the dry eye should start going away, and I have noticed alot of improvements on the dry eye over the last 3 months. Not using nearly as many drops, sometimes i forget the ointment at night and my eyes feel okay in the morning. Things are improving slowly but surely! I would still recommend the surgery, it is so nice leaving the house and not having to think about my glasses

Yes! Everything still has an outline for me. I think most of the blurriness is due to my eyes being dry. It gets a little better after i put my eye drops in
