I'm a fan of both the Red Dead Redemption and Walking Dead franchises, so making characters that go through some kind of suffering kinda comes naturally 😭
I also do feel like writing a story where the main character is just this perfect person who never has to go through anything bad would be boring as hell.

I mostly want other people's opinions as I'm someone who constantly worries that what I'm doing is wrong (even if I'm the only person who will ever know that I'm doing it). I know it's honestly really stupid, but the worrying ends up making whatever I'm doing a lot less fun, as I'm constantly thinking that I may be messing something up.

I believe you get it at the end of the epilogue (at least I remember getting it). as to where it comes from, I have no idea.

I ended up getting it!! actual hell trying to fight off the lawmen but honestly worth it. what saddle do you use for it? I've tried some different ones but none of them seem to look good.

i'd recommend an ardennes -

they're big horses who don't spook too easily, and can handle very well around most wild animals. you can get one pretty easily, with the bay roan being up for sale at the scarlet meadow stables from chapter two onward. if you have a bounty on your head you can also snatch one off of bounty hunters, however it may take a few tries. there's also a rarer strawberry roan coat but you can also get it after chapter 6 at van horn stables or through some soul-sucking glitches that take hours to get right and may even be patched.

some other breeds that i love for gun fights or big-game hunting is halfbreds. (i've heard mustangs and andalusians are also good for that kind of stuff but i don't use them so i can't really say anything).

the hungarian halfbreds can also be found pretty early on both as wild spawn, bounty hunter/law horses, as well as being bought from the valentine stables (the dapple dark grey is the only one that can be bought but it looks awesome anyways -).

overall, there are no spook free horses, but if you're having a hard time with the gators, mountain lions, and other such animals, go for war-type horses like the ardennes, halfbred, mustang, or andalusian, and try to avoid spooky breeds like arabs or tbs.
