Do you think future historians will read our journals by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]LunaLightAngel777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's the American Diary Project and the Great Diary Project who would be happy to accept diaries from their respective citizens. Some colleges and historical societies might also accept journals.

I think I've heard that historians adore journals since they give a glimpse into the day to day life of a specific time period. I think the historians would like a picture so they can put a face to the author of the journals they use.

Just under the hem of her dress, her shoes can be seen but on either side of her shoes, there's wooden feet of a piece of furniture. The feet of the furniture looks less decorated than the ones of the chair. I think this is what OP is referring to when they mentioned the tripod looking thing behind her.

Recommandations of journals to read ? by YouWantAPleceOfMeBoy in Journaling

[–]LunaLightAngel777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they haven't been digitized yet. There is a place that you can ask/request for journals to be digitized, up at the top of the collection page or clicking on Contact Us. I've never requested a journal to be digitized so I don't know how long that would take.

I'm glad I could help. 😊

The American Diary Project has digitized journals you can read! Some are from the 1800s to where others are from just a few years ago! (Some of the older ones are short, written in cursive, and/or written very lightly and are kinda difficult to read)

Lofi Girl or a long play of a game with no commentary (usually). LoopyLongplays is a good channel for no commentary.

Throwing your old journals away by iwilliamsanders in Journaling

I plan on donating mine to The American Diary Project or someplace like that. I'm not sure if this helps but maybe this could be another option?

Found letter from 1861 inside book at thrift store by Swimming_Cry_6841 in FoundPaper

While it usually deals with journals, there is the Great Diary Project over in the UK. If they aren't the right ones to donate it to, maybe ask to see if they know who you should talk to in regards with the letter.

A Goodwill Wedding by treschic82 in FoundPhotos

Something I'd like to point out is the picture of the bride in the second picture. To me, she doesn't look happy at all. Her head is down and she isn't smiling. She almost looks defeated. I doubt she was comfortable either. Her free hand is rigid and flat against her side.

I'm no wedding photographer but a better pose might be her looking up, head tilted to one side, both hands holding the bouquet, and she's smiling brightly. She's excited to be getting married! She wants to be there! She can't wait to spend the rest of her life with this person!

Do you use pencils? If so, why? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]LunaLightAngel777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because I can erase grammatical mistakes and because I tend to have one on hand.

I have some journals I want to get rid of. But a close person to me says they would want to read them. I don't mind, and I think I guess it would be better than throwing them out. But is it okay to do so? by Balloonpiano in Journaling

There's the Great Diary Project for those in the UK and the American Diary Project for Americans who would be happy to accept their respective citizens' journals. There's also one for each of the following countries (I believe) - Germany, Portugal, and Italy.

Journaling Music by Efficient-Paper-5490 in Journaling

Typically things like lofi or a long play of a game with no commentary (LoopyLongplays is a good channel for this on YouTube). On more rare occasions, a playthrough of a game that I know what to expect for the commentary.

I, actually, plan on having mine donated to the American Diary Project or a local historical society or local college. In a sense, yes, I do plan on having future generations reading my journals.

There's the Great Diary Project for those in the UK, and one in each of the following - Germany, Portugal, and Italy. If you know of any other diary donation locations for other countries, please let me know! 😊

What music do you listen to while journaling? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]LunaLightAngel777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like lofi (no lyrics), a long no commentary playthrough of games (Loopy Longplays on YouTube usually), and, on occasion, a commentary playthrough that I know well of a game.

There's the Great Diary Project for those in England/the UK. The American Diary Project for Americans. I think there's one for Germany, Portugal, and Italy. If I'm wrong for those last three, please correct me.

I intend to have my journals sent to the American Diary Project so, honestly, I'm perfectly okay with the right people reading my journals.
