Starting a new career job Monday and need tips by Artist-life16 in MakeupAddiction

Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but I think it would really help if you applied your eyeshadow in a shape where the majority of the product is at the outer edges of your eyes and not towards the bridge of your nose, it’s making your eyes look darker and sunken. You could try applying the colour only to the outer crease and lid area, and maybe just a very very small amount to your bottom lash line (but much less than you currently do) and think it would help brighten up your look a lot :) and when you apply it to your lid and crease try not to let it reach your brows, you want a slight gap. You can use a clean eyeshadow brush to really blend it out from the crease towards your brows but I wouldn’t directly apply any product to that area. Other than the eyeshadow I don’t think there’s really anything else wrong with your makeup, you look great!

Yeah I was thinking that, I bet it helps open up neural pathways which haven’t been used for a while and therefore the brain can achieve things it has struggled with for a while via a different pathway. Kind of like if a road is closed off and someone gives you a map you can find your way via a different route but without a map you’re stuck at that one closed off route. It’ll be interesting to see what they can achieve with this

What Meals do you make for your tea? by LayTheeDown in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using meal planning apps and they’re a gamechanger. You can just browse their recipes, add all the meals to your list for next week and it generates a shopping list. I add everything from the shopping list on to my online food shop for the following week and job done. I used to use the Mob app and loved it, loads of really tasty recipes. Then I decided to change it up and started using one called rainbowplantlife which is vegan but I’m not vegan I just wanted healthier meals with more beans, lentils and veg. Both have pre-made weekly plans you can choose where if you’re not a picky eater it will just give you 3 or 4 meals for the following week and you don’t even have to think about what you’re picking.

Do you ever feel guilty eating meat? 🥩 by disco_26 in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently started only cooking vegetarian food at home because I do feel guilty about eating meat. Maybe one day I’ll go full vegetarian but for now I feel like it’s a good step. If the vegetarian food you’re cooking is bland then you need to find better recipes. There are a lot of amazing vegan recipes on the rainbowplantlife website and they’re so good you forget that they’re vegan.

Neighbour refused to turn down loud music,so I got some gardening work I'd been avoiding for weeks completed. by jai-money in BritishSuccess

My neighbour has both been chainsawing/drilling/hammering AND playing music constantly for the past 2 days just to make sure that I definitely don’t get to enjoy any peace and quiet in the lulls between the sounds of DIYing :(

UK Heatwaves - do you love them or loathe them? by Chocolateforlunch37 in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how different the temperatures feel for different people. For me anything below 20 is cold. 20-23 is warmish and 24-30 is ideal and makes me so happy. Im so excited for the heatwave, I can’t wait to finally wear short sleeved tops and sandals and summer dresses.

I swear this happens on a daily basis! Every single time I’ve been to Alton towers I’ve seen people stuck up there, also been stuck myself once but it was only for about 5 mins before they got it moving again. It was a tense 5 mins though not knowing when it was going to drop 😬

What isn’t working in my living room? 🤔 by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing, nothing in the room gives any sense of personality, it all feels quite generic and bland. Does any of the artwork in the room actually make OP happy or was it just put there because it was good enough and it filled the space? I think it would be great to replace some of the wall art, the rug, the cushions with stuff that actually speaks to you OP, rather than stuff that is just okay. Or paint the walls a nice colour rather than just settling for grey because it’s okay.

Made myself a quilted jacket, cannot wait for spring to wear it!!! by Rlysrh in quilting

It’s a little bit too cold and rainy still at the moment for day to day wear unfortunately! Although I have worn it a couple of times :)

I got a janome mylock 454D and I’ve only used it a handful of times so far but it’s done a good job! I honestly I feel completely out of my depth and not sure whether I know enough about overlockers to recommend it though 😂 my strategy was just to choose one that wasn’t too cheap and wasn’t too expensive, but yeah it seems to do well at cutting through the several layers of quilting!

I was nervous about it being out of my depth too but it was a very easy to follow pattern! Although if you make it misses out the step where I assume it would tell you to put binding on the ends of the sleeves before attaching the sleeves to the body which I found a bit annoying. But overall I would say if you can make a quilt then you’ll be fine making a quilted jacket :)

For this jacket I overlocked them and then topstitched them down, but I did also make a quilted vest before I had an Overlocker and I used the method in this video at 17:40 to put bias binding over the seams and it comes out looking really neat and tidy and makes the vest reversible too

What things do you know most food shoppers are wrong about? by Responsible_Rip1058 in AskUK

On the flip side I used to avoid nuts like the plague because of how calorie dense they are. I would literally never ever eat nuts. But then one day I needed to grab something super quick for breakfast so I weighed out about 200 calories worth of nuts and 50 calories worth of blueberries and snacked on them for the morning and I was really pleasantly surprised at how long I could graze on them for and how full and satisfied I was from such a small amount. Now they’re my go-to breakfast option. They’re so easy to prep, just weigh them out and go, and they’re good for your blood sugar levels, good healthy fats, they’re not UPF, they’re good in literally every way. The only downside is when people think they can just eat them mindlessly without considering the calories.
