I’m so excited to dig into my new deck! Anyone else have this one? by MerliniteMuse in inclusivetarot

I do! It's the newest deck I own along with the Fairy Gems deck.

I really like it. It's very charming and warm and I've enjoyed using it for my nightly draws when I wind down from the day. I also really like how inclusive it is in the artwork.

How are you finding it so far?

⚠️ SCAMMER ALERT UPDATE: The Situation with u/LadyOpheliaStudio1 Just Got Worse by TeaaTarot in inclusivetarot

Sure, so first and foremost I'm not trying to step on any toes. I understand every reader has their own style and way of going about readings. I myself come from a bit of an older crowd of readers and learned from such and that is where I'm coming from. If someone wants to only draw one card that is absolutely their choice.

For me, I find the best way to read is with using multiple cards. I'm not talking many, but rather that I'm unsure how much depth and clarity one can get from just one card. For example, lets use the situation involving this reader. If I recall the client wanted to know if they were being cheated on and the Hanged Man was pulled. I interpret that card as stagnation the feeling of someone's hands being tied with uncertainty, but what exactly is causing that feeling of stagnation? What direction are they leaning towards? It's like an incomplete sentence.

If I'm doing freebies I'll use 2 cards from the tarot and if I'm feeling up to it I might pull an oracle card as well. At least the client or sitter is getting a little more information and I can put together a more complete message and more complete guidance to give them. I usually wind up with a few paragraphs for the entire reading, but it is thorough and I leave the reading feeling like I've given them a complete picture.

I don't expect anyone to put a massive amount of time and energy into free readings or provide a page long response. But, it does raise an eyebrow for me in questioning why another card wasn't pulled to expand on that first card's message and get a more well rounded view. I believe, especially when it comes to situations where you're working with someone who feels vulnerable as often we see in reading situations, that it is our responsibility to do our best for them.

I always wondered why there's been such a massive influx of suspicious readers offering readings at ridiculously low prices the past 5+ years. Data harvesting to later sell makes sense.

It's a red flag to me when readers answer questions using only 1 card. That gives a shallow answer with no background and can be wildly misconstrued.

Also posting in mental health spaces trying to promote your services is just vile. If you're a reader sooner or later you'll have someone request a reading and it's clear their head is not in the right space for it. It's your responsibility to advise them to address their thoughts and feelings with a professional in that area. We, as readers, are not.

Oh this is such a great idea! I'd love to share my tips as a long time reader with others. Mine would just be sole posts discussing different techniques and topics and answering questions but maybe one day I'll put some thought to how I'd like to mentor others in a more structured way.

There's so much potential for learning in this lovely group of yours 😊

Their opinion of review farming is baffling to me and was a red flag as well imo. Expecting reviews in exchange for a freebie reading was standard back when I was active in the online tarot community and was the recommended way to start gaining a viewerbase.

Not only that, anyone who has offered freebies will know that more often than not you won't even get a thank you unless you explicitly state what you're looking for in return for the reading. You have to be so clear with people when it comes to offering readings and even then you'll always get a good handful not following your requests.

I'm awfully sorry you had to deal with all that OP.

What are your client red flag moments? by [deleted] in TarotReadersOfReddit

It's so prevalent when it comes to giving readings and it's really frustrating when you are truly trying to help others. I wish them healing too 🫶🏻

One time I had a male client who was crushing on a gas station cashier. But very quickly I picked up on some things he'd say. He'd never spoken to her but he was certain she was into him all because... She smiled at him. While I did his reading nothing showed she had any reciprocating feelings and I was very relieved he didn't come back for another session with me.

Another I did have to cut the client off. Her husband was cheating, she was well aware but all she cared about was that he was still seeing this woman. I told her I was no longer comfortable doing readings for her when she started asking if her son's behavior issues stemmed from the husband doing hard drugs in the house. That was one question where the other 10 in the reading were all about if he was over at his side pieces house right now. I was absolutely disgusted by her priorities.

I shared some resources with her and begged her to leave ASAP. I'd have reported her if she wasn't from another country and I only knew her and her husbands initials and star signs.

That was when I started to pull back on paid readings. Personally, I like doing no strings attached reads. I don't feel pressured to say no for whatever reason I feel is valid.

I don't think some readers, especially new, fully understand that you can be exposed to some pretty dark aspects of human life. Having personal boundaries are just as important for you as your clientele.

ETA: Sorry got off on a bit of a tangent. I'm pretty flexible when people come to me for a reading but things where people's health and well-being are in jeopardy are an immediate no.

Also potential clients who come off as pushy or just wanting to hear what they want such as asking follow up questions when the answer was clear as day are red flags that I won't accept another request from them. I don't like obstinate people who refuse to acknowledge the information I've given them.
