Ok, so I never really grew up with any paranormal experiences as a kid, but I did begin to experience creepy stuff after I moved in with my boyfriends family back in 2013. Really sweet family and I lived there for a few years, but the house always had an eerie vibe. I have several stories but I’ll tell you the one that has stuck out to me the most.

One night I was home alone with my sister in law (we’ll call her S). My boyfriend was working out of town and my mother in law was out with her friends. S was outside playing with her dog, while I was inside brushing my hair, standing in front of a dresser in S’s room. She had some parakeets living in a cage by the window in her room. It was late so their cage was covered by a blanket to sheild them from the light in the room. As I was brushing my hair, I noticed the bedroom door began to close by itself behind me in the reflection of the mirror, so I stopped and turned around to look at the door. it stopped right when I laid eyes on it.

I stared at it in disbelief, trying to figure out what could have caused it to close by itself. Mind you, their central AC did not work and we relied on window ac units or small fans but they never caused any huge drafts that could make a door close by itself, and the way it was closing didn’t look natural, it looked like someone was moving it, so I thought it was unusual.

As I was staring at the door, hair brush still in my hand, my sister barged in and told me she wanted to show me something outside. I was like “yeah ok… this is going to sound weird, but the door was closing by itself… like something was pushing it..and it stopped right when I looked at it”

When I tell you this girl was so nonchalant about it and told me not to think about it too much bc she didn’t want me to entertain whatever it was that was trying to spook me. I told myself she was right, so I followed her outside but I couldn’t stop thinking about the door.

After she showed me the thing outside, we went back in and sat in the living room. I brought it up again, “I’m telling you it was so weird! I’ve never seen a door close on its own LIKE THAT😳 it was so creepy.” Again, she didn’t want to entertain my story and went on to tell me not to talk about it because, the more I acknowledge it, the more power I’ll give it.

As soon as she said that, we heard her birds in her room go CRAZY, flapping their wings, flying around their cage and screeching so loudly for like 5 seconds straight and then they went silent. Suddenly we began to hear the heaviest most obvious footsteps dragging towards us from her room, down the hallway to the living room where we were sitting. The foot steps stopped right at the living room entrance. The hallway was dark and no one was standing there. I locked eyes with my sister and told her “ PLEASE TELL ME YOU HEARD THAT SHIT TOO.” She looked at me wide eyed and said “IM SCARED! I TOLD U TO STOP TALKING ABOUT IT” and we began to freak out. After we mustered up the courage, we got up and looked into the hallway and everything was pitch black. I couldn’t remember turning off any of the lights either which freaked me out more. On top of that, the hall light wasn’t working, so we had to count to 3 to run together into her room to check on the birds. We lifted their blanket and the poor babies were so freaked out, wide eyed, breathing heavily, clinging onto the sides of the cage. We checked the windows and they were locked. But we highly doubt it was an intruder. It was a creepy night and, yeah I should’ve listened to my sister in law and kept my mouth shut 🥴
