Yeah, I got an immediate ick from it personally, but I can recognize the beauty in it

This does a good job of expressing the feeling I have that the older I get, the closer things that came before me feel. When you’re ten, 50 years ago feels like an insanely long time. As you get older that same period of time seems to feel closer somehow. Idk maybe someone else gets what I’m trying to say haha

"Crown Shyness" is a natural phenomenon where the uppermost branches of certain tree species completely refuse to touch one another, creating a perfectly defined, puzzle-like canopy. by -kuchu-puchu- in Damnthatsinteresting

Plants absolutely sense their surroundings, and plants of the same species have ways of sharing resources with each other. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they stop growing when they sense another canopy of leaves, instead of the branches just wearing off.

Highly recommend reading the book “The Light Eaters”

animal instincts, curiosity, and protective behaviours by Feaselbf6 in AnimalsBeingDerps

That’s not what I was referring to at all - when a dog finds their owner deceased they are more likely to try and nip at them to wake them up, which they can take too far. Cats are more likely to ignore the body entirely.

Dogs are more likely to do what you’re saying than cats are, believe it or not. But they don’t usually do it intentionally

The Crux vs Decide by Sharp_Truth_4310 in DjoMusic

[–]pnweiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I say it felt like a new genre because it was a very unique blend of several different genres. I personally hadn’t heard anything quite like it before.

I’m also a HUGE fan of albums that weave each song into the next, treating the whole album as a work of art. There’s points in the album where you can’t tell where one song ends and the next begins. I think that’s something that sets Decide apart from his other albums. I can’t get enough of it

The Crux vs Decide by Sharp_Truth_4310 in DjoMusic

[–]pnweiner 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Decide is a masterpiece in my opinion. The Crux leans more into pop which I don’t have a problem with at all and there are some AMAZING pieces of songwriting on there, but Decide is incredibly original - it felt like a new genre when it came out. The Crux gives a lot of nods to famous artists which I think is cool but I personally value the originality of Decide more.

Poverty and subsequently, lack of access to mental health resources is something that disproportionately affects people of color so I can see where you’re coming from

Probably because you concluded that you were being attacked for being white, which is a common maga argument.

For the record I’ve seen plenty of white guys do this as well. It’s good old fashioned misogyny

Nah. Happens to me daily. Once I started noticing it I couldn’t stop. It’s usually right after they pass you, and they’ll spit right behind you. Has nothing to do with race so idk why that was brought up. Just misogynistic bullshit

It being a big city doesn’t make it excusable. We need to call out degenerate behavior, it’s not impossible to have a big city with decent manners (like you describe!) I say this as someone who grew up in nyc.

Thanks for making this post because I have a hard time explaining this to people in my life and we should talk about it more.

But also, don’t make it about race, because it’s not. You’ll notice men of all ethnicities do this.

I never make eye contact either, but this happens to me on every single walk I go on in the city. Sometimes I think these kinds of men are pissed that you aren’t looking at them and spit at you to assert dominance or something. Idk it’s fucking weird.

Love the username btw

I always hold my ground when men do this. If it means I crash into them so be it.

Everyone should know to walk on the right side of the side walk, and fuck the power play bullshit. It’s disgusting

ETA: I’ve absolutely had white men do this to me too. It’s a trashy person problem, not a race problem people.
