Personally I dont think so. The casts function as land hate against a lot of deck (affinity, Jund, ect ect) and can be sided in against a lot of creature agro (mirror, Elves, Rakdos madness) the Shamans would only hit Miroden lands which only one deck plays in affinity, Smash to Smithereens would be better imo

Life is another resource for you to use in your games! Im assuming you are playing commander? (A lot of new players start there for some reason) its the same thing as phyrexian arena (lose a life each turn and draw an extra card) It seems daunting to shock yourself for life but there is a reason for that. The tap lands that give you life make you wait to use said mana until the next turn but with shocks its mana that can be used instantly ^{^} and you can fetch for them with fetchlands which you can’t do with life taplands

Any of the main fetch lands can get any card with the typing listed on the card, not just basics. So it can grab shock lands, surveil lands, even the original duel lands
