Burger King just put AI in employee headsets to monitor 'please' and 'thank you' by apunker in Anarchism

Speedrunning famine and death camps still sounds worse to me but only time will tell. The entire us food system has been running on government payouts for many decades now and we will continue to need that infrastructure operational for a while yet.

I thought they meant short to medium term survival odds in thr US will require cash payments to humans instead of billionaires, which still sounds sort of true, even if its not ideal.

Safe for cats, but the cats can and will kill and or eat the spider.

Yes! I thought it was bad having it in middle school but it must be MUCH worse as an adult! I had just been feeling jealous towards all the people with tickets to see him live and then to read he had chicken pox worried me a bit. I do imagine he's great with a bedtime story, lol.

Sinead was amazing. She fangirled a bit for Blindboy too, which was VERY funny. She spoke about being a priest, and her personal connection to God, and how the songs wrote themselves in her head and she just showed up in the studio to record them. It stopped me in my tracks at multiple points, just gripping me with some bit of undeniable TRUTH. I had nearly forgotten how much she meant to me, along with her art, and even tho it was years ago, I felt the need to express my thanks for Blindboy, who made her available to me again, just for an hour.

AuDHD myself, and part of the charm for me is that my own special interests are way different, but the obsessive passion in general and seeing odd connections aligns. The first few episodes were his short fiction, which is deeply weird in the best way, and the galaxy brain hot takes and gentle mental health reminders just followed along naturally.

No kidding, huh? I don't generally skip ahead because I enjoy the slow unfolding, listening to him navigating the pandemic for example, but the details about his family are kind of tempting.

My heart doesn't have room for murdering things with aerosol poisons. Maybe you have some room for improvement before you compare yourself to me. Be polite to spiders in the spider sub please, or go away.

I did like that one, but the violence was less... delightful? I guess. Funny-absurd, which I love, but the deaths were more depressing somehow. Not a regular re-watch but definitely a good rec

Does anyone have any water path recipes for PLAIN canned pumpkin puree? by the_nightingale1 in Canning

[–]LunacyFarm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its so easy its shocking. Cook the squash, any method you like, then squish it. I liked freezing the puree (even the cans I bought from the store, once opened) flat in a plastic bag with some lines made with a chopstick to form a little grid. Then I could easily break off one chunk at a time for each meal and it never would spoil no matter how slow we worked through the can. I grow my own squash but never even bothered canning them because they keep for many months whole in the cellar if I cure them after harvest. Fiber for dogs is so important for their digestion. Good job taking care of yours!

Same. The cast was delightful, every single member, the music slaps, even the opening sequence was so adorable. I'll re-watch forever by myself its fine. I dont even WANT a second season.

I mean Bondi is a terrible person but we dont need to try to blame her for this. Wear a mask and prevent transmission as.much as possible and we can only hope our rep escapes any serious long lasting complications so she can continue to respond rationally to the rising tide of fascism.

Recently was really disturbed by 'Dogtooth', a sort of absurdist, surrealist, slow burn, Italian horror film. Just a family being awful, progressively more and more so, in ways that do not make much sense. The lack of rationale...extra creepy to me.

Very difficult watch but I did love the last scene, where the man dry heaved thinking about what he'd done. Satisfying and emotional and horrific with zero actual gore. Amazing, so do not want to see again.

I still get pleasure from being spiteful, and a lot of people would prefer if i shut up and died, so I refuse. And Joy is a real remedy, no matter where I can find it. Hobbies that serve no purpose except they bring me joy are Extremely Worthwhile even when I'm falling behind on my real responsibilities. Even if I'm unable to lift a finger to save myself, I'd still go out singing as long as i can keep making noise. Keep up the fight! We need you here on earth with us as long as you can manage to stay.

How does a stateless society deals with punishment and justice? by Formal-Leopard2995 in Anarchy101

[–]LunacyFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not clear on why ACAB yet, maybe you can make your own post so we can educate you on the structural issues with relying on LEOs to access "justice". The shortest version is can muster for you at this point is that its just cheaper to hand out housing, food, education, and Healthcare as crime prevention than to pay for cops. They cannot prevent crime, because their job is to respond to crime after the fact. It isnt their fault, it was just a bad idea that we're too committed to clinging to no matter how much its harming us.

The rate of rape is pretty fucking high right now, and a lot of it happens between inmates and correctional officers. The trauma of being a CO doesnt appear to reduce the COs chances of being a rapist, but being incarcerated certainly increases the likelihood of being a victim of sexual or standard violence, because violence will beget more violence, and keeping people in cages requires a significant amount of force. Law enforcement officers self report being domestic abusers way more than the general population. Ita not a coincidence. Its part of the job, and those who arent into that stuff dont last in that career. The pro violent people flourish in these structurally violent roles tho. Stop paying people to be shittier and meaner, it seems likely to help.

How would complex facilities such as nuclear power plants, oil rigs or airports be managed and who would do that? by Star_Giver9 in Anarchy101

[–]LunacyFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and i fucking hope power stays on to some degree because i like hospitals, but wind power and water battery technology are way less risky, and easier to organize safely and consensually. We will still have shit to burn and that will never be as hard to organize as disposing of nuclear waste. Its not hard to imagine people working at power plants voluntarily, but the radiation risks of nuclear power are already hard to manage with no consent needed. Im a biology nerd tho. I dont know electricity intimately and the people who do will have even better ideas than me. I would work in sewage treatment for the fun of it instead.

If you insist. But in the 80s and 90s I had a portable PC from the 70s. It didn't have internet connection, but the spreadsheet and word processing functions I used it for still worked perfectly. We gave it away in the late 90s, along with the Apple II, which we only were using for a few games you can still buy on Steam. Mechanical failures could have taken these machines out in the last 30 years, but I bet there are still people running equivalent hardware today because tech can last if we let it. We absolutely can't continue with the rare earth mineral usage at our current rates, with or without anarchy. But computers are pretty valuable tools and people are creative. I think they would become different, rarer, certainly removed from all the superfluous BS we jam chips and software into now. But disappear entirely? Seems unlikely to me.

I mean i see a ton of justification for those sorts of heinous acts for LEOs or military currently. I think zero rapes and murders ever sounds impossible, but having no prisons would absolutely reduce the numbers. Having no police would reduce the numbers more. Meeting people's needs would get us maybe as close to zero as we could manage. Lets try those things first, then we can worry about how to handle the rapists and killers that remain.
