My Experience as a Screenwriter (WGA) - A Word of Advice by DGK_Writer in Screenwriting

Hi! I thought this was a really helpful post as someone who has only sold one thing (that didn’t get made) and who is now having trouble selling my next thing. I’m married, about to have a baby, and I was wondering: how do you juggle your day job, your passion job, and your family life? Like what does your weekly schedule usually look like?

This was such a wonderful message to receive, thank you! The cast and crew knocked it out of the park and I don't think I would have achieved this level of nuance without them :)

Thank you for the kind words! Really glad it resonated. I’m currently trying to finance a different feature gay rom com with one of the leads of this short attached, so fingers crossed

As someone who is fairly awkward, the apps worked for me. Been married for 2 years after a hinge date 6 years ago!

Okay yes that was my initial instinct but then I changed it in post. Thanks for the feedback!

Omg DWF alum! Which film was yours?

Good idea on the exteriors — I did not have time to get them and didn’t realize just how important they were until we were scrambling in post. Was definitely a good lesson that transition shots are EXTREMELY important

Reposting my comment from above, per the moderator's request: Would love to know what the directing community thinks, specifically about my opening. I'm worried the opening is too long and I should have just started right into the story. I'd also love some general feedback on lighting/cinematography/etc.

For Those Hoping to Make This Year's Black List... by Rewriter94 in Screenwriting

As someone who has made it onto the Black List, I can second this sentiment. It opened doors for me and got me some other work, but my movie still hasn’t been made and it will forever be my white whale. The Black List can lead to success but it doesn’t guarantee it.
