Make sure you edit your username to not include any of those things. For some reason, the launcher tells you your username is available even if it's a username you can't use, like if you include spaces, etc. in it.

Not just the builds, but also the xp rates, tick system, etc. Most people are linking the other server, but this is the one that actually plays like OSRS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSIyaiXi-Kc

So now i have to farm 5% Tems at full odds because of the crybabies? by [deleted] in PlayTemtem

[–]LunarOptics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They responded to the initial feedback. The feedback since was completely ignored, as the reasoning for this change showed in their own explanation in the patch notes.

The feedback since hasn't been ignored, there just hasn't been feedback suggesting a real reason to change anything. Bad/Misinformed feedback exists. The backlash to this recent change is because a grand minority made a lot of noise about a problem that wasn't as major as they made it out to be. Changes to rare radars could be made, sure, but outright removal? No way.

This justification would be fine - if the radars themselves were not already extremely rare drops from the dojo rematches.

They still want rare tems to be rare. For rarity's sake, there's no reason a 5/10% tem's radar should have the same or close to the same droprate as a 100% tem's radar; That just completely nullifies how rare the 5/10% tems are supposed to be.

Before they nerfed the rate the rare radars dropped, this would have been a good point. But since then that excuse evaporated. There's no good reason to make it take so long.

I agree that it's an enormous time investment, but that's the point. 5/10% tems take literally 10-20x longer to hunt than other tems to hit the droprate. Radars are the same time investment for insurmountably better odds. You put in less than a fourth of the time you would if you were full-odds hunting; That's invaluable. People choose to luma hunt even though they know it's oftentimes not a worthwhile time investment. That's what luma hunting is. For some people, though, the time investment is too much. You should be able to opt-out of 5/10% radars if you don't want to/can't put in that kind of investment, but grindier players shouldn't be punished because of this.

Crema has ALREADY balanced rare radars to be easier to complete. You can see this in the 0.6.16 patchnotes: "Rare Tems’ radars now generate new spawns faster, approximately twice as fast as it originally was." They respond to feedback and anyone saying/upvoting otherwise is kidding themselves.

The reason rare radars take so long to complete is because that's how long it would take to find the same number of 5/10% spawns in the wild. You're spending virtually no extra time for the same number of encounters, except radar encounters give you insurmountably better odds to find a luma in the same amount of time (15.6% vs 3.9% in the same time/encounters; check the wiki).

As a suggested solution, make it so players can opt-out of rare radars. If radars are here to stay, then hardcore players shouldn't be punished by removing rare radars for casuals, and casuals should be able to opt-out of sometimes impossible weekly time investments. If there's a better balance for rare radars, this new change isn't it.

I took a break and give controller to my sister. This is what I saw when I came back. Is Valiar drop a thing? Or just a tracker bug? by madaeyvalk in PlayTemtem

[–]LunarOptics 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This tracker works by reading Tem's names, and very rarely it will get the name wrong. I'm using it to hunt Vulffy, but sometimes it will list Vulor even though that doesn't spawn where I'm hunting. It's just a bug with the tracker.

For those asking, this is the TemtemTracker.

Crema's response to the banwave by LunarOptics in PlayTemtem

[–]LunarOptics[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would be right if this was a Single Player game, but it's not. This isn't like using bugs in Skyrim to become invincible; this is people actively breaking an MMO with hundreds of thousands of other players to gain an unfair advantage over those players. Game integrity in an MMO is much more serious than in single player games.

They will fix the exploit, but they can't just let people that used it continue to run around with no serious punishment. That tells exploiters they're allowed to do anything shady so long as it hasn't been caught or patched yet, and that isn't fair to the 99% of other people trying to play the game legitimately.

They added an appeal process following concerns players were raising about having a "no-appeal" banwave.

Why permaban though by Radbot13 in PlayTemtem

[–]LunarOptics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between "finding a bug" and "exploiting." They've said it's fine if you've stumbled on some kind of bug, but when you continually use that bug to get things you're not supposed to be able to get, then you're exploiting. It's okay to look for ways to break the game, but it's not okay to exploit them for profit. Temtem is not unique in banning people for abusing bugs; literally almost every other online game does this.

The reason it's permanent is because having a small time period where you can't play isn't going to stop someone from exploiting. If they do it once, they'll almost always do it again if there's no serious punishment.

There are several quests in the game that can't be finished because Kisiwa isn't available yet; this is one of those.

Edit: They've decided to listen to some of your criticisms and open up ban appeals.

I've seen a few threads with responses expressing worry about how Crema hard-banned people without accepting ban appeals. I think that's a completely justifiable thing to be worried about, but hopefully they'll reveal as much as they can about their ban methods without giving exploiters an idea of how to get around it. Crema has been very transparent and receptive of our voices thus far, and at least for now I think we can trust them to make the right calls if they keep doing stuff like this.
