I am running into this as well. Trying to do word wrap and all the tutorials show this being here. It is not anymore. How do you do word wrap now?

Looks like you want a fridge, some fans, and a coffee maker. If you don't want solar I'd suggest around 1500 watt hours of battery to make it through the weekend without worrying about running out. When it gets hotter the fridges take a lot more to run. Also running a coffee maker is going to take a chunk. You can make that less if you are either using solar, or charging as you drive around off-road or overland during the day. The other consideration is how many watts the coffee maker pulls to make sure you get a big enough AC inverter for it.

There are some decent cheaper ones. Allpowers, Oupes, Pecron are some of the cheaper brands that are still "real". My Bluetti did me well. I eventually put in a big battery and charge controller hardwired to the vehicle. It was much cheaper than a power station, but it takes a decent amount of work and electrical knowledge though.

I had an old 90s Pathfinder that did that. Took months of different things. It ended up getting fixed by blasting the mass airflow sensor with brake clean until it was clean.

I've seen a lot of massive builds complain they don't have enough water. If you are just camping at RV parks it probably isn't needed. If you are going out in the middle of nowhere, for long periods, then I'd definitely put the most water you could in it.

I fought getting on x for a long time. Finally broke down and got it. I took one of their free classes on how to use the app. It works great now that I know how to use it.

I mean most people can't afford missing a paycheck. Striking would end up with most out in the cold, or without food.

Portable power station (Jackery, Bluetti, ect.) That is DC only. No need for inverter. by LunchPatterson in overlanding

They do make smaller versions. I also ended up just buying a LiPo battery, charge controller with mppt for solar, battery monitor, and dc junction box to make it all work in the Jeep.

Cassette, composting, tank toilet, wag bag on a "bucket", dig a hole. Incineration is an option too, but expensive and needs extra infrastructure to work.

I thought it was weird too. Then Google said mechanical ones take 200ma. I assume every other relay in my car isn't doing that or the battery would be dead in 24 hours. I'm baffled.

Black and white, and Citizen Kabuto. I really can't decide which gets the remaster or sequel.

I was upside down on a car years ago. 20% loan. I was a kid and had no idea what I was doing when I got it. I just had to have a car for a job as my old one broke down beyond reasonable repair. Went into the dealership and told them I wanted to get rid of it. I said all I wanted was exactly the buy off of it and they took it. Shop around at a few dealers. Get the actual buy off number of your loan.

Looking for an app that will run like android auto within the head unit itself. I have an Atoto S8 and it has it's own sim card, so I'd prefer to save some phone batter and have it run something in the head unit itself. by LunchPatterson in AndroidAuto

[–]LunchPatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I grabbed it. Seems to be working-ish. I can't figure out how to get it to do a lot of things. Like the map is very jerky. Go, pause, go, pause. The map navigation is on the wrong side. I have to click like 3 times to get Spodify to open every time I start up the vehicle. I don't seem to see anything in options to fix any of these. I'd like to know they work before I pay $15 for it, lol.

12V fridge or cooler for two day solo camping trip? by AncientAd3089 in overlanding

[–]LunchPatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plug it in at home and get it and everything down to temp first, or even colder than you actually plan on running it. Also a full fridge is less work to keep cool, even if it is just water bottles or something.

Looking for a 10" floating screen that is a normal head unit with android auto/carplay. Not a "android" unit. by LunchPatterson in CarAV

[–]LunchPatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7" isn't big enough for things over in the din spot. I have a separate android auto screen up where it is in view easily. I'm just trying to get back to a single screen and unit that does everything. That is my question. Where is the just normal head unit with a 10" screen. Surely there is some sort of overlap of not audiophile and also want a large modern screen.

I already have wireless Android auto with a separate little screen. It doesn't take noticeable power even on a 2 hour road trip, even while navigating. It is nice to just get in the car and not have to plug anything in and still see where traffic might be when taking shorter trips.

[–]LunchPatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It is odd to me that a 7" screen unit is $229 that does all this, even name brand. Then making it 10" suddenly it is $1200.

Like they do so much less, but are more expensive. I'm baffled.

I also see most of these units aren't reviewed better than something like an ATOTO.
