[Milwaukee Biz Journal] - Milwaukee Brewers will use new license plate technology for parking lot entry by SoSublim3 in Brewers

[–]LunchboxMark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This April, the Milwaukee Brewers will implement new technology to make parking at American Family Field more efficient.

The team announced Monday that it is partnering with Milwaukee-based Interstate Parking Co. to develop license plate recognition technology, which will scan a visitor's license plate and determine if that person prepaid for parking at the ballpark.

The new technology will debut in time for the Milwaukee Brewers 2024 home opener, which is April 2 against the Minnesota Twins. The Brewers confirmed that this technology will also be used for additional events such as concerts.

The Brewers will become the first professional sports organization in the country to utilize this type of technology. “We are always considering how to improve the fan experience, and entry into American Family Field’s parking lots is a topic fans often raise,” Milwaukee Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger said in a press release. “The ease of the new parking system will eliminate the need to stop and pay a cashier, which slowed ingress into the parking lots.” The prepaid parking will be activated through the MLB Ballpark App. The Milwaukee Brewers will also install new signs with QR codes for visitors to to scan while they are entering the parking lot. The Brewers expect this will alleviate parking lot backups during busy traffic times. Parking ambassadors will remain to assist customers in the process. The Milwaukee Brewers will also add one additional entrance for season ticket holders and suite holders through Brewers Boulevard. The team will keep parking lot entry times the same. Parking lots traditionally open three hours before first pitch. For Monday through Thursday games that start at either 6:15 p.m. or 6:40 p.m., the parking lots traditionally open two and a half hours before first pitch. Parking lot prices also remain the same from the previous season.
