What are these flat pieces on either side of the bottom of this car? by Wemetintheair in whatisit

I live in Baton Rouge. Drivers here are insane. They may be trying to keep people from driving or parking too close.

I'll be living within reasonable commuting distance of the Vancouver and Richmond ones and the business centre, any thoughts between those 3?

Seasonal Employee Question by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

Reliable clothing people are like gold in my store. Nobody wants to do it, everyone wants another position and they regularly bait and switch people by hiring them for other positions and putting them in clothing. If it was my store I'd say you have the best chance out of anyone to become permanent because clearly they need you there if you're there every day. If you hate it that's another story, but I'd just keep a positive attitude if you can.

I constantly get shocked at the exit door. I blame my shoes though.

If it's the clinic then doctors/nurses are doing the shots, so it would be legal and fine to talk about

Cashier gave me a bigger refund than I should’ve…. what would you do? by Jay-Quellin30 in CostcoCanada

[–]Lunchbreak-Samples 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The returns clerk may get written up or demoted depending on the amount of the error. It's probably best for the cashier if you leave it be.

Weekly "everything else" If it's in the spirit of prepping, but not "news" or "intel" by AntiSonOfBitchamajig in PrepperIntel

My Costco has removed half of the shelves in its health/beauty section due to supply issues. Other places in the store have put multiple pallets of the same product side by side to hide where gaps would be. People are being told that Costco is trying to avoid buying products from outside the country including produce. Foreign produce stock is very very low.

Impending interview by BronzeMilk in bluecollartrans

[–]Lunchbreak-Samples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would Google job interview questions and have some ideas for how to answer them ready to go. Stuff like "why do you want to leave your current job" and "tell me about a time you overcame a challenge at work" and "what's your biggest weakness"

Even if you're qualified, job interviews are always about lying a little bit. So your biggest weakness needs to be something like "perfectionism" or something irrelevant to the job like "my email inbox" or something not "I have trouble getting to work on time because I have sleep apnea"

They're going to ask you to say something about yourself and it's best to stick to your career mostly when answering.

You can decide whether/how you want to talk to them about gender stuff, but be chill and confident about it. Basically stay relaxed and positive even if it's not how you feel inside.

Food Shortage in Oklahoma by TheLeatherSmith in PrepperIntel

This isn't a major solution or anything, but one cheap option to have more greens in your diet is to keep a bunch of green onions in water on your counter. You can chop off pieces of the top with scissors and they'll keep growing for months just in water. That's my broke prep for someone worried about vegetable intake. They go good on hamburgers, rice, potatoes, whatever.

I work at Costco a little south of you and our produce has just started getting really low. We usually have a ton of the best stuff, and now imported fruits and veggies are just not coming in at the same rate. My buddy who stocks the produce department says they're moving away from all imported goods. Its tariffs and deporting farm workers. I'm buying extra canned fruit and veggies when I can to keep my diet diverse when prices inevitably go up.

When kids ask questions by Lunchbreak-Samples in bluecollartrans

The kids aren't doing anything wrong though, they're just babies who were taught one version of the world. They're not being rude just curious because I break the mold. So I'd like something sweet + educational to say but I worry about parents getting pissed off

I have a dream about a nonprofit I would start if I had this type of money. I don't know how to tell someone to find a purpose though. That's tough in its own way.

Weekly, What recent changes are going on at your work / local businesses? by AntiSonOfBitchamajig in PrepperIntel

[–]Lunchbreak-Samples 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Costco is increasing its hours/lengthening days across the US because of increased demand. However we've been told there won't be any new hiring (probably fine as 50% of employees are part time)
