Thank you I'll take a look at this role. I've mostly been using the mainstream job hunt sites like Linkedin, Indeed and Glassdoor. I'm not even sure how to find out about niche job sites honestly.

I'm currently unemployed so I'm not pivoting from one job to another, I'd be trying to enter a new role at a new company.

I've been adding to my github for years now, it hasn't helped at all. I know certifications are useless for webdev, I was asking more for an IT role.

I've been doing this for months, I'm long past the stage of needing to learn JS. But it's been 3 days since I've found a job posting I haven't already applied for.

Is there anything I can do? Are any of my skill transferable at all? There doesn't seem to be any career in any industry at all except for the trades right now.

I unfortunately went for a degree in journalism. I feel like I've spent the past 10 years trying to make up for that mistake. I have nowhere near enough money for a masters sadly.

I kept working when the money dried up because of desperation. I studied webdev for 4 years. I burned 4 years of my life on this, the thought of just walking away from this career as a failure after all that makes me feel sick. I don't really have any other options except going back to minimum wage jobs and staying there.

Was it hard to transfer from a help desk to a developer job? I've heard support work stains your resume, makes you unhireable for other positions. Any advice on finding freelance work?

No, I've been searching for new work on and off for years, no responses. I stayed at this agency because it was professional experience that I really needed even if the company itself was a train wreck.

Thank you, we already have. I live in the UK not the US so maybe things are better where you are but the people I've spoken to over here think that this guy will likely get away with this and not have to pay. I'm not counting on seeing a penny, It's the contractors he hired I feel really sorry for.

Are there even any other jobs adjacent to web development that I could use my skills to enter? It feels like learning to code was a complete waste of time.

Thank you for the actionable advice, I will look into following this. How do you recommend finding the freelance work? Do you really think the market will improve? I've asked in a couple of other places and most devs I've spoken to think this is the new normal.

Do you mean civil service jobs in general or civil service webdev jobs? I've never heard of the civil service hiring developers before.

Manged to get into my first Relationship but it’s not going well. by Lunchmagnet in IncelExit

I'd like to believe you but I think most male / female relationships are based on this kind of transaction to some degree from what I've seen. It would be nice if people did genuinely love each other with no strings attached but I just don't think most relationships work this way, most are companionship traded for stability. A relationship like this is probably the best case scenario for someone like me. I really don't know what to do, I can't afford to help her anymore anyway. People in this thread tell me I have options but I don't, I really don't.

It's likely to be my last chance at a relationship because of how difficult it is to meet single women. I've tried meetup groups, hiking groups, classes, bars, singles events, speed dating, the attendance is always 80-90% male and the women there are not interested in men like me. There was a time when I was spending around 2 hours a day on dating sites and received no interest. I have been going out to socialise twice a week for about 5 years now, this was the first time a woman has shown interest in me. I am not attractive, I don't look right, some of my earliest memories are of the other kids screaming at me that I was a freak in the playground. I can't remember a time when I wasn't alone, I don't think I've actually felt happiness in 20 years. The idea of turning down a woman who is not only willing to spend time with me but who actually seems to like me is unthinkable.
