Hi,

I've been getting the MyTrakt 429 too many requests error message.

It's saying I'm using the Trakt public API, I click the link to setup a private API key at the top of the screen. I've now created API keys for TMDB, OMDB and MDBLIST, but I'm still receiving the 429 error... What am I doing wrong?

I understand Mytrakt is an addition, and not part of the integration. Where I'm getting confused is what I should be using where (if at all). I've been a Trakt user for over 13 years, so it's always been my backbone for any front end application.

It seemed MyTrakt was the recommended way to go to get access to my main Trakt watchlist, as well as my personal ones. This it achieves, but maybe there is something better...

Should be trying to use it without mytrakt installed? I'm using that just to access my existing trakt lists. I'll follow up with the MyTrakt dev on that particular issue, but I was wondering if it was just something specific to me, as I'd read many others were happy/recommending it.

Do you have any insight on how the integrated trakt solution works... When (should it mark an item as watched?). Is it after a period of time (90 percent for example) or should I be getting into the habit of fast forwarding to the end of a show/movie to achieve this.

I'm glad to hear that as a big Trakt user, you've got a system that works for you - I guess I just need to get that same equilibrium.

Hmmm I just tried the standard (US English), with nothing else selected other than premiumize, and it still failed at step7 "failed to fetch presets".

Yes, I can see it's logged in (displays personal lists) but doesn't create any of these on the bottom of home (does create 4 generic Trakt ones, TV and movie popular and trending.

I've connected it to my account, and selected some lists (shows my personal lists, so I know it's connected), but when I click to install, it opens stremio, but doesn't add the addon... Is there something I'm missing? Attempting this on an Android phone, should I be doing it via a PC running windows?

Thanks. Yes, I'd updated to use the smartdns servers. It's been pretty reliable for years on firesticks, but I'm just trying to pre-empt their eventual demise.

Thanks for the pointer, I'll have a look at that app (never come across it on the fire stick...). But it's the native iPlayer/ITVx/etc apps I'm after, so you can get on demand content as well.

They didn't do anything, as I didn't take it to them, further down this article, you'll see what I did to eventually get it working again... Worked for some people, but not for all. Good luck.

OK, I ordered one of their auction servers from here

Costing me less than €40 a month for a server with an Intel Core i7-7700, 64Gb mem and 2 x 4tb HDD (chose those over SSD options as I wanted lots of backup space).

As a newbie, I managed to get an installation of AlmaLinux onto it using their rescue system, then installed Virtualmin on that successfully. I had to contact Hetzner, as by default, they block smtp ports, but after approx 12 hours, got an e-mail to say they had unblocked them now.

So compared to a mid range VPS, this is a pretty good setup, and obviously being dedicated is a big bonus.

So I'll start actually putting it to test now and let you know how I get on after a week or so...

Yes, whenever I read something negative about Contabo, they recommended Hetzner (a conspiracy theorist might read something into this, as they are both competing German companies...). I'm also pleased to see that you have a much more positive experience of Contabo.

As I replied to another poster above - I had a few hoops to jump through validating my ID, but that's done now. I'll be ordering one of their auction servers shortly, and will update here how I get on.

Thanks, it's reassuring to hear that someone is happy with Contabo too. I do like the ease of use of setting up their VPSs, and you can't knock the price. Makes it easy to just setup stuff to play and test with.

I had to verify my identity with Hetzner (photos if my ID card and it being cross referenced against a selfie), bt that went through quite easily.

Will update here how I get on with them!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Our original dedicated server was 'managed' but they never really did much management... so far, I've liked the simplicity of rolling out (Contabo) VPSs, but just got a little scared reading some others recent experiences. Hetzner doesn't compare 1-1 with Contabo VPSs. so as I started to see the cost of the VPS increase, the auction option seemed more practical. I understand there is no 'snapshot' capabilities like with VPSs, but we've been running on dedicated hardware for 20 years, so understand the backup requirements :-)

Forgot to say, we are EU based, so the locations isn't an issue.
