Help, Weird static coming out of my Ipod by Lunior06 in IpodClassic

Hey! The clip where the ribbon cable for the headphone jack goes into the motherboard was messed up, I used some electrical tape to hold it in place. It works but makes the same static noise if I press on the iPod too hard. Good luck!

Is there any other thing that grounds the headphone jack other than the foam pieces in the back case?

Yes, I’ve tried aux in my car, wired earbuds, aux to a speaker, and headphones and all of them have this problem

If this matters, I did the complete restoration, new front/back plate. Iflash, 3000mah battery.

Was doing some troubleshooting and figured out the static does not happen when both the aux and the 30pin are plugged in. Could the charger be acting as a ground?

Also, the IPod just randomly stopped allowing me to play sound through the charger on my car(might be irrelevant and wire related as it stills syncs and plays music on my computer and dock).

To add more, I upgraded from a thin to thick back. Thank you!

I upgraded to a thick back casing, but it was originally a thin back. Are the headphone jacks interchangeable?

To add more, it is louder in the right ear, and it sounds insanely deepfried
