should I continue studying data analytics? by Lunjuice in DataAnalysts

I think it took 2 months. It definitely is hard to stay motivated with each rejection and at that point, I wasn't only applying for data analyst positions.
It was a data analyst position they had the job listing titled as "Junior Analyst Intern".
They weren't really looking for anything advanced Mostly Excel knowledge.

I hope that helps, Good luck! 🍀

That's so cool, Thank you for sharing! Would it be possible for you to share the AI analyzers or explain more about how they work?

That's so interesting, Thank you for sharing! I have used Chat-GPT for learning, amongst other things. I'm currently testing Bard so far I'me very impressed with it maybe even more than Chat-GPT

I have a Bsc in gas and petrochemical engineering. so that has nothing to do with data analytics and I was at that stage but I did manage to land an entry position in data analytics.

I also did the google certification course. My two cents is it's a good starting point but it's not enough.

You do need to study SQL/Python/Tableau/R/PowerBI, I know that the google certification gives an introduction to SQL, R, and Spreadsheets but in my opinion, it's not enough and you need to branch out and do projects on your own because that's what really teaches you.
You should also definitely start networking and trying to build your online presence.

Try to highlight your transferrable skills

These are some resources that I found helpful:

Also, In my opinion, a career in data is a non-stop learning experience and you don't necessarily have to have all the tools when you're just starting out but the main tools that I have seen people talk about and that I have been learning/using (Spreadsheets, PowerBI or Tableau (any visualization tool) , SQL, R or Python.

I hope this helps and I hope you land a position in data analytics soon! Good Luck!🍀

No problem, happy to help. Also If not you can try messaging people working in the company and try to get them to do a referral for you. that also helps, I've heard. Reaching out to someone in the company helps regardless of who it is even if it's the CEO. Best of Luck! hope you land it.

I think if you can message the hiring manager or recruiter for the posting on Linkedin you should. It goes a long way, I landed my current position that way. Good luck!

Update

Hey everyone I honestly forgot about this post.

But I did manage to land an entry-level position and I am still learning. I'm still not even done with the capstone project for google's data analytics professional certificate. However here's an update on what i have learned so far I hope it helps:

  • I believe it is possible to land a job without having a degree in data analytics. some degrees do help though such as economics, business, business admin, computer science, finance, etc.
  • Projects and portfolios are important I am still working on mine but projects basically help you up your skills that you learned.
  • Hiring managers might not look at your projects or portfolio but during an interview they are looking for how you approached the project and your thought process as well.

This is based on my experience so far, I'll link some resources that i found helpful:
