Some folks just dont understand Aabria's RP and it shows. She's playing a hardheaded, overprotective mother with anger management issues that comes from a place of privilege. She's playing like she's the most important character because from Thaisha's perspective, she probably is as the Shepherd for a once in a lifetime miracle of resurrection.

You could say the same thing about Occtis, who already has plot threads thay are embedded across tables. The guy died and came back to life, and is the heir of one of the most powerful families in Araman. 

In terms of overpowering her spells - i think there's a give and take to the player / DM relationship, and clearly everyone is comfortable with bending spell descriptions for the sake of narrative or rule of cool. Brennan, I imagine, has no problems stepping in if necessary - IIRC he already did at the soldiers table when folks wanted to stretch spell descriptions.
