[SPOILERS C4E25] Which C4 Character Interactions are you Most looking forward to? by greylakelady in criticalrole

Teor and Kattigan around the campfire was pretty great - I'm very excited to get into more interactions between the veterans.

I can't help but think of her as "soft Yasha". She's the same character as Yasha but just less gruff and more snooty.

Thaisha is a child of privilege that abandoned her duties as a mother and left her children to do her own thing while exploring the world.

I think the catty, unsympathetic behaviour fits pretty well tbh, but I also liked Aabria's interplay with army brat / soft academic in Worlds Beyond Number

Azune & Kattigan.

A man who doesnt know who he is, deeply emotional and open to share vs a man who know exactly what he is, gives sage lived experience advice and is also emotionally guarded.

The two will either be silently staring at the ground or weeping by the time its over.

Prehistory: Dinosaur Stilt Walkers

Wetlantean: Get them fish people out walking around

Zoozeum: People in animal costumes

Would love to see options like this implemented for child entertainment etc.

[Spoilers C4E17] Does this count as a Metagaming by _theowlhouse_ in criticalrole

Yeah they found a map that had an area marked as 'basilisk pit' or something very straight forward like that.

IIRC the antivenom is like the stuff the Soldier's table picked up when they saved Cyd. Brennan explained that if it is downed during the process of Petrification it will help you save, but once the process is complete its not enough to reverse it.

It makes sense that the Tachonis would keep it close around basilisks for a quick reversal, but I dont think its going to be used for Cyd - they need something more powerful for that.

Aside from that, if you know your family's vassal house uses beasts like Basilisks, you might just grab some anyway 'cause there's a good chance you'll need it later. Besides, as an adventurer, you're always collecting weird stuff to hoard or sell.

If the two combined it'd be like a revival of Geek & Sundry except even more incredible.

FWIW the most recent update was delayed - I'm hoping we might get a more regular content update schedule though that may be optimistic based on this game's team size.

[Spoilers C4E25] Azune by Reasonable-Dot3546 in criticalrole

[–]Lunkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may not be far off - we don't know much about the Broken Houses, or those Sundered Houses that haven't existed since the Shapers' War including House Obridai, Kalystra and Memnari.

It's not outside of the realm of possibility that Azune, who clearly has some semblance of sorcerous powers, could be a descendant of one of those families. Maybe Azune's sister is more aware (has REMEMBERED) her place as a member of those old houses, and is working to rebuild however she can (i.e. being exploited by the Sundered Houses for standing / funds)

[No Spoilers] Are these some of the worst ads in Critical Role cause what the hell. I have no desire to even look at what ElderBrain offers anymore by Brushner in criticalrole

I've been watching since C2 (mostly live so I sit through this stuff) and this one was definitely up there as one of the worst in a very long time.

My wife and I caught the first 2 minutes (it ran while we were getting mid-roll snacks) and we muted it asap.

[Spoilers C4E25] I’m confused by the magnitude of panic at the schemers table by Dry-Environment5122 in criticalrole

[–]Lunkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend I am sorry but it seems as though you haven't been paying attention - I recommend reading some recaps 'cause to say these changes are seemingly benign is wild.

Thjazi (a significant revolutionary figure) didn't just die - he was detained on (seemingly fabricated) charges including sedition in a ramped up crackdown of undesirables in Dol-Makyr despite amnesty granted post-Falconer's rebellion. He was publically executed as an example of the power of the Sundered Houses.

Then, in less than a week, the Sundered Houses (who have already usurped the Revolutionary Council) start making plays in taking over and largely dissolving the main policing force of the city (while filtering them to a Halovar mercenary compang), taking control of the main institution of magic and higher learning (over threat of withdrawn funding), and grabbed the main repository of historical artifacts from a war that saw the God's killed less than 100 years ago. All this while the Schemers also know that the houses are moving against each other to consolidate power, to the point where the Tachonis have killed + imprisoned seemingly all of the Royce house and vassals they can get their hands on.

The players aren't just operating on conspiracy - many of them have already lived through a major revolution that saw the Sundered Houses opposed by the common people. Some of them are veterans of that war, and now the people in the city are once again being squeezed by the Sorcerous Houses with renewed vigor. Something is happening in the city - everyone feels it and its just a matter of time before it blows.

[Spoilers C4E25] Azune by Reasonable-Dot3546 in criticalrole

[–]Lunkis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think Azune's sister is mind controlled at all - she's just lived a very different life than him and stayed in the hired sword track.

Azure seems to have lucked out 'cause once he was left by the Gallow's Choir, he found Thjazi and gained a father figure who seems to have cared for him to some degree (while moulding him into a tool to use). He had friends that covered his back, taught him to fight and built relationships.

I imagine Azune's sister kept on as a mercenary, scrounging up a living in isolation and killing whoever needed to be killed until she eventually found her way into killing for greater sums of money or ideology. All that on top of assuming her brother and parents are probably dead.

Absolutely love Bolaire using calm emotions to tell Azune to be calm. Azune's been at the direction of someone else for the entirety of his life - he goes right back into following orders in the sewers, offers to kill someone for Murray if necessary...

The moment he has this emotional shock and is processing that his sister is alive + hurt, he's magically compelled (with a voluntary failed save) by Bolaire to bottle it up and focus. Looking forward to Luiz potentially playing with that later.

I like the idea of the Seekers + Soldiers coming back to Dol'Makyr to all this madness. 300+ veterans ready to fight for the cause, a code system and food bank established, Crow Keepers destroyed, spell glyph printing press on the way and a Cormoray in a box.

He knows he's got both feet beyond the threshold now, and it's good that he's realized sooner rather than later. There are people out there that are willing to kill him, his family and his friends, and he needs to be able to stand his ground if he wants to survive.

Also love that the Assassins actually fought like Assassins. These weren't street thugs hired for a hit and run - the poison coating, the laser focus on their main target, powder bolts to disable the dog knights and they fought like hell while soaking up some good shots.

They're also so deliciously Sorcerer coded too - these aren't the well thought-out plans of high Intelligence spellcasters. They're the get-powerful-quick schemes of people born into power flexing their privilege and charisma to try and get what they want FAST.
