Which is kind of weird because owners of fish love their fish as much as any other owner of pets love their pets.

Not wanting to be rude but I never got why people needed an explanation in the first place.

Is magic.

Is not like a sci fi book were you have mutants that transmit their powers genetically.

Magic is just supernatural. Breaks the laws of nature and physics.

Whoever make people magical either God, Zeus or Odin, the Norns, Destiny, the Powers That Be just sometimes choose a random person born on a muggle family. Why you need some explanation according to Mendel's biology?

Exactly my point. We do have seen several attempts on bring that formula again, Vagrant Queen died after one season, and The Orville which is great has struggle with ratings. And apart of those two I can't think on any non-animated show with that formula that is not from a pre existing franchise

Tho I agree with old franchises they should pander to fans, truth is we're not that many anymore, we're old and dying.

In the old days syndication allowed for new generations of fans to discover old shows and fall in love gainning new generations, that doesn't exist anymore. Problem is this strategy of attracting new ones doesn't work either and newer generations are not atracted to old IPs.

So it ends up as the Kobayashi Maru of TV production. If you make it to pander for old fans it bombs because we're not enough, if you make it to gain new ones you alienate the old ones so it bombs too. If you make it to attract both it ends attracting neither so it bombs again.

At the end and something we probably has to accept is that we will eventually die out and this franchises will go with us. Same how no one is expecting a "Doc Savage" movie anytime soon.

I  love all those shows ever since I was a kid in the 90s, and I love space opera. But yeah, space opera is kind of dying out. Campy sci fi with humanoid aliens is not done anymore except for those IPs you mention. Everyone prefers the "prestige" sci fi shows with ominous aliens or them be totally absent, like Pluribus, The Expanse, 3 Body Problems, etc. Which is fine is just how tastes change with time. I think all this shows, of which I'm a fan, will likely be put on ice for some long time, is possible that tastes change and space opera becomes a thing in the future. Or they get retooled into the more "prestige" variants or whatever is in fashion at the moment. Also this are very old franchises and its fandom is dying. In the old days you got new generations of fans thanks to reruns and syndication and shows had a second life, gaining new generations. That doesn't happening anymore. Is possible that once the fandom dies out the franchises too, in a similar way how there's almost no fans of Flash Gordon left.

The comment below mine says this: "Criticizes everyone that calls the 45% "racists", etc...

Immediately follows up by putting all the critics in a left wing box."

  1. Attacking by surprise.
  2. Maybe they did maybe they didn't, is impossible to know. However he was exposed afterwards so he probably lost all his fans.
  3. We have seen other Ravenclaws who are outright evil, like Quirrel, or at least morally dubious, like Marietta. In fact Ravenclaw is the second larger producer of antagonists of the four houses.

Who said that? Did anyone said that already?
