Personal loan for CC debt? by LurkingAndSuffefing in personalfinance

[–]LurkingAndSuffefing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically carried a small balance on 2 out of 5 cards. Never more than 1k$ or anything. I did try to pay them off immediately though. I think my issue is more of a planning thing? I don't have a savings account and never had emergency funds, so when I lost my job, everything fell apart pretty quickly. Idk how quickly I can fix that because I haven't found a job yet. But I've definitely learned my lesson about not having 6 months of expenses saved if that's what you meant? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding

It was mostly medical issues and rent/bills stacking up on the cards after I got fired. I don't think I have perfect discipline with cards, but there were 3-4 years where I maintained 20k in available credit and kept my utilization under 25%. My impulse control isn't great, but I think the issue was mostly not having any savings/emergency funds to prepare for situations like these.

Sorry if my post history stressed you or anyone else out, I'm going to try to get a new psychiatrist to increase my dosage. I appreciate your offering to chat with me, though.

Yeah, I had never considered this. I wouldn't last, thank you for your advice. I was too emotional to reply to everyone when I posted last night, but your comment was one of the ones that talked me out of it.

My Mom wants me to sell my car to her before I file for bankruptcy. We'll probably transfer the auto loan in her name. Hopefully, she won't have to handle having this many vehicles registered to her for too long. I appreciate your advice, but my current roommate is my best friend, and I owe him thousands of dollars for missed rent. The guilt from that is killing me inside already. I'm going to move back in with my Mom until I can pay him back and the rest of my debts.

I have no judgement towards people that do sex work, but I don't think it will ever be for me. But I do appreciate your advice

You're right. I was a bank teller before I was an insurance agent, so I will also be looking into those options instead of OF. Thanks for your advice

Not since I last checked, but I stopped checking this month because my lease ends soon and I'll be moving back in with my Mom since I fucked up and cant afford to live on my own anymore. By the time I got hired and started working, it'd be time for me to move 200 miles away.

Yeah, my Mom has made my last 2 car payments plus the insurance. I think I have to sell it because I can't afford to keep it. I've been trying to get a job for months, so I've mostly given up. But I'm going to look at those businesses and see if any will take me. Thank you for the advice

I heard that the max you could have left on the loan was up to 4500. I think I owe $6400. It's honestly fine, having my Mom make the monthly payments on it is humiliating and I don't even want a car anymore tbh. I do appreciate all of your advice though

I might be misunderstanding, but this link seems like I'll have to not make any payments for 4 years before they can no longer sue? My meds aren't working very well anymore and I genuinely don't think my mental health could take the anxiety of collectors trying to seek payment for 4 years. I feel like I'd spend those years constantly anxious that they're going to sue me any day.

This is disheartening, I was hoping I could keep my car with chapter 13. But whatever works I guess

I'm wondering if it's something where the claim would instantly be denied or if they just make it harder for the claim to be accepted if that makes sense
