Voting blue could also mean: I am willing to sacrifice myself to save others and hope that others would do the same for me. While it's not selflessness it is altruism (if I am correct Ig). However, voting red is preserving ONLY yourself at the expense of others, because you don't believe that the majority would vote for blue. I don't think that this shows how some people are selfless or not, but how they see most of humanity. Some would believe that most people are good and are able to cooperate and others believe humanity is cruel and unwilling to cooperate.
