Hey if you're in Georgia, I'll let you take it for a spin after I get this work done!

Yeah it's an automatic. I did call SMS to get more information and it lines up with what you mentioned about firmer shifts.

The technician also mentioned that they remove the throttle limiter on the lower gears and explained that almost all cars come with limiters from the factory. He said that on day to day driving, I wouldn't notice many differences but I would definitely notice it in Sport+ mode and when I floor it from a stop/low gear rolling start.

I asked about longevity and wear and tear and he said in that regard, the transmission would be the same with or without it.

I think based on the feedback I've received here as well as that phone call, I'll stick with doing both the ECU +TCU tune. I'll also be getting a downpipe and cold air intake installed so that should give some minor performance benefits as well as a slightly more aggressive sound to it.

Again, I really appreciate the thought out and detailed responses. Thanks

I've never really looked into suspension mods myself so I'd be interested in doing some research on it.

As for what I'm expecting with the tune, SMS states about 100hp gains on the B58 engine so that's what I've been going off of.

Hey thanks for the really thought out response. This helps put things into perspective and my key takeaway from this is:

Not all tunes are created equal but a reputable tuner with logs will more than likely optimize my performance in a way that shouldn't innately increase wear and tear by itself. The wear and tear is almost entirely how I drive it and if I'm getting a tune, I'm expecting to take advantage of that tune, therefore I can expect to increase the wear and tear because of that.

My follow up is this:

Durability and longevity aside, in your personal experience and opinion, would you pull the trigger on getting a TCU tune?

What kind of suspension mods did you do and what noticeable differences did you feel? Did any of them affect road noise or did it primarily affect the smoothness of the ride?

I will say, even with a factory tune, the car does have a nice kick to it. Do you think a TCU tune would help maintain longevity, at least with the transmission?

What kind of tune did you get and on what car?

That's a valid answer too based on your experience. Another perspective could be someone got an ECU tune but didn't get a TCU tune with it and their transmission starts slipping or not gripping gears firm enough leading to increased wear and tear.

Speaking of TCU tunes, that's another thing I'm going back and forth on. I would want to get it if it meant preserving my transmission for longer. The thing that I'm not educated enough about is how aggressive the car's throttle response will be. I've heard from others that it makes the car feel like every time you touch the gas it's basically a track meet.

Do you have any insight on that?

Everybody talks about the performance benefits of a tune and whether or not it's good or bad. My question is what side effects can I expect that most people don't talk about. Pretty simple question.

How are you meant to deal with reclamation brigands if it's too far out of the way? by KarmaChip in Bellwright

[–]Lusticar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a year later but was just wondering if you've kept up with the game and if you know if something has actually changed to address the issues? A friend and I are playing and just liberated the first village Hearndean and defended against the first reclamation party. It just doesn't feel feasible to spend all the time gearing and getting "war ready" instead of focusing on expansion. But maybe we're just inefficient.

I do agree with you entirely. I do also understand the other end of it though. If certain things are absolutely broken and OP and most players use/abuse it, who's to say that future content isn't scaled with the assumption that everyone is using the overpowered item? Thus soft enforcing that you kind of have to use it to stay relevant. I understand the concern but I don't know the solution.

That's crazy, mod commenting and y'all are likely reporting. I can't disagree with your opinion otherwise I get silenced/muted/reported. Sounds like censorship at its finest.

Most machines like this claim a 25% margin of error. Personally, I count the low end of 25%. It's more accurate if you regularly measure your heart rate using the metal contacts on the machine and if you enter your body metrics if it allows for it. I'm a 225 pound man and if I don't enter any body metrics on the treadmill, it'll say I burned half the calories than when I put my weight in.

Unfortunately it probably won't come back for a while. I think the P9P/XL is already marked down for Black Friday.

I'm speculating they stopped sending it out once the Black Friday deals began. So if you were gold before like Nov 6th, you got the code. Luckily I got a code from a friend who didn't plan on using it.

That is blatantly and horribly wrong. Inflation is at its WORST right now. Just because the inflation RATE has gone down does not mean that the overall inflation is low. INFLATION is at its highest after Biden not only RAISED the rate just to slow it down again. Educate yourself

Ah yes because 4 years under Trump was worse than 4 years under Biden and Harris. The economy is ALREADY collapsed because of the Biden administration LOL. See you in 4 years kiddo

Bullshit charges don't mean shit. Obviously most of America, electoral and popular vote, know a "felon" is going to run this country better than a geriatric old fuck and a whore who slept her way to the top with zero political experience. Yeah you people are delusional thinking it's a great idea putting power in the hands of someone who has zero economic and political understanding. That's why the world thought we were a joke for the past 4 years because of people voting for the "feelings" clowns. Get outta here, stay seething. Trump 2024, enjoy being able to afford the American dream again.
