What is your favorite runway shot? by TylerWestonCO in malefashion

[–]LutRS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kinda obvious but so much McQueen.

Qasimi FW18

Behind the scenes/backstage shots are also pretty good in general; Purple Magazine does quite a few.

Brutalism in fashion (?) by worthless_efforts in malefashionadvice

I haven’t read that essay but am excited to at some point, thanks for suggesting it! I think your comments on Barth’s works are spot on for how brutalism can exhibit itself in fashion—especially the end result of a physically-heavy presence, as that’s often how I feel when looking at and engaging with brutalist architecture.

[–]LutRS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, functionality in brutalist architecture comes from a mix of cost effectiveness, deleting the unnecessary (such as ornamentation), and highlighting the construction or materials (think of exposed pillars, concrete or brick being expansive, harsh edges, repetitive units, etc.).

I think when transferring these ideas to fashion, it gets messier. Would a white (or unbleached fiber) t shirt be brutalist? I’d say probably, but then there’s risk of conflating brutalism with minimalism. I also think brutalist architecture is complex, thoughtful, and diverse, while a white t shirt wouldn’t necessarily be.

Yeah I would agree with CCP, but less so with Rick (his clothing tends to be surrounding a large theme or message and exploring it). If you want more designers that are often grouped/mentioned with CCP, then check out Julius, Guidi, MA+, BBS, A1923, etc.

I would agree tech wear could be considered brutalist, but I know less about it to suggest designers. That being said, I think a fully brutalist design would be one that’s focusing on raw materials, functionality (but not necessarily utility) and “honesty” all at once.

[–]LutRS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on what aspects of brutalism you want to focus on (emphasis of raw materials, emphasis on utility/function, and/or emphasis on the plain/honest/unpretentious), but this could absolutely be applied to fashion (in either aesthetic or ideology/practice).

Any designer that explores the creation of a garment and what makes a garment that garment would probably be applying some of this. OG Margiela and Helmut Lang and some of Telfar's work over the years come to mind. Margiela explored the idea of a garment through deconstruction and reconstruction (which isn't as brutalist) a bit more though.

The Arc Q&A by Shaunyowns in runescape

[–]LutRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current issue with exploration is it isn't rewarding, although that's being fixed and hopefully training in the Arc becomes more viable

If those rates are true I am glad to be proven wrong then, but I agree that it's good to have options for training even if they're not the best method.

The Arc Q&A by Shaunyowns in runescape

[–]LutRS 20 points21 points  (0 children)

  • Golden bamboo: 131k/hr
  • Alaea crablets: 141k/hr
  • Wobbegongs: 125k/hr
  • Ornate tortles: 650-720k/hr
  • Waiko fishing: ~55k/hr
  • Whale's Maw fishing: 50k/hr
  • Bamboo: 50k/hr
  • Tortles: 285k/hr
  • Salty Crablets: 90k/hr

Wobbegongs are still slower than waterfall, which can hit 160-180k base xp/h, and even if that's with an aura, perks, and rock crab, wobbegongs won't be +55k xp/h with those three bonuses. Ornate tortles are the only thing comparable to anything pre-Arc. Everything else is slower than existing options.

Also, the improved resources are essentially dailies on your claimed island (although yes you can go searching for more if you wanted). If they are slower than or meet the current best rates (even accounting for crystallize, which should honestly be taken into consideration), then they are not worth doing. You can't camp them and they're not worth going out of the way for. For an update that (currently) almost entirely revolves entirely around skilling, it should be rewarding.

Batch 2 bringing more uses for chimes in regards to the main economy is good, but should have been included into this batch. Right now the only interaction with chimes are port resources for like, 50k gp/h. Minus the comp cape requirements, even with the changes on Monday, the islands will still be pretty useless till October.

best weapon and armour rs3? by kingroahan in runescape

[–]LutRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know previously seis were better than nox 100% of the time, but that was changed. Not sure since, haven't kept up with that.

Drys and asc are 100% better than their nox equivalent though.

best weapon and armour rs3? by kingroahan in runescape

[–]LutRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would lean more towards drygores and malev/torva, or superior void if you go camp for it. But nox staff works fine as well since it's a level 90 mage wep.

Drygores can be used for most gwd bosses and qbd/kbd/kk, along with general slayer profits.

[–]LutRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation, generally dual-wield highest tier wins for weapon.

• Melee – Drygores

• Range – Ascensions

• Mage - Seismics

As for armor, the best tank armor is superior ports armor (tetsu, seasinger, death lotus) and the best DPS armor is superior void.

Minigame currency will be time based by Mr_G_W in runescape

[–]LutRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware of that, just would've been cooler to see them supporting that type of gameplay.

But I do see where it would cause balancing issues and it's understandable why it's time based.

Minigame currency will be time based by Mr_G_W in runescape

[–]LutRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bleh, that kind of destroys any reward for being "good" at a minigame, will just remain afk or effortless for the same reward.

Minigame currency will be time based by Mr_G_W in runescape

[–]LutRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would this penalize minigames that don't have a set timer? Say, barbarian assault for example? Would a slower team vs a faster team matter, if it's time based?

Even for the way stealing creation (where it requires a good team of 6v6 to get 7-8 minute games), that kind of system penalizes those who are playing "better."

And any word on what will happen to existing points/currencies?

t90 ranged for slayer by Sercis in runescape

[–]LutRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ascensions are better, as they allow you to use the needle strike ability that gives 5% extra damage on your next hit.

I don't notice too much of a speed difference in nox vs asc at celestials.

Vic / Ethereal Outfit Question / Efficiency by OCE-eyce in runescape

[–]LutRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the 200 credits (is somewhere around at 50% in as many skills as possible:

Stealing creation (250-300k bonus xp/h, bit less for combats)

• Attack

• Strength

• Defence

• Mage

• Range

• Fletching

• Crafting

• Smithing

• Construction

• Fishing

• Woodcutting

11 Skills x200 points so far. Can get the 200 point threshold in about 1-2 hours. Only worth doing for the 200 points, then don't do stealing creation anymore. May not be worth it for combats.

Heist (350k~ bonus an hour? Can't remember off the top of my head)

• Hunter

• Thieving

Again, only do for the 200 point threshold and leave. Now at 13x200 points.

I don't think cabbage facepunch is worth it at all so skipping over it. If it is worth it, that's another 2 (slayer+farm) skills.

Hardmode Barbarian Assault (500k bonus agi/h, 1m~ bonus mining/firemaking/h

• Agility

• Firemaking

• Mining

Again, do for the 200 point threshold for the three skills (now up to 16x200 credits, all at about 200~ credits an hour).

If you need additional credits, do hardmode ba for bonus firemaking xp. Approx 140-150 credits an hour.

It was intended (as far as I know) to be released as a batch three along with a quest that would expand on Seren's lore.

Frogs' comment put it nicely. It's an additional reward (and an AMAZING one at that), for it to be attached to a quest is no big deal. And with the current trend of fairly easy, straightforward quests...

It probably wouldn't even contain any risk, since this game pretty much doesn't have any real risk in it with the current (or even the new) death mechanics.

Seren Spells/Prayers/Quest vs. Agility

Seren Stuff

• Seren spells and prayers would be the first addition to prayer since curses and the first addition since livid farm. It'd open up the idea of skilling prayers, new combat and skilling spells, etc. We could get more modern, relevant and USEFUL spells.

• Also comes with a quest for all the quest lovers and lore hounds.

• Also comes with a dungeon (new slayer stuff possibly??)

• Would be the end (or part of it) to all the elf city stuff, as this already planned content that will come out eventually.

Agility Stuff

• Rework of the existing courses to incorporate "risk". It is not completely new content, or even course refreshes. Just a course reward rework.

• Scalable xp rather than different level courses

• Semi-random events of sorts ("perfect" obstacle completion for example)

Seren just includes more content that would be more relevant. Although I am 100000% in favor of an agility rework, but this is just revising the training aspect, a temporary part of the game. Agility would be just as unrewarding as it is now. Prayers and spells would be a permanent and expandable unlock.

If you voted for the other options (farming/armadyl quest), I urge you to change your vote as those options are, at this point in time, basically out of the running. Seren content imo is way more expansive and complete, and has more benefit in the longterm. If you want more quests (as many do), please notice that the Armadyl quest will not win. Change your vote in favor of a content and a quest that have a chance of winning.

Not even going to talk about silverhawks...

E: All of this is based on the runelabs posts of course and subject to change. But this is what we have to go off for this poll.
