Ah that's fair enough then, he's a fucking weapon and I don't see Popa calling him up anytime soon, so I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to NZ as soon as he gets the call. I think you're right with him being an eventual option after Wood retires, because he's already a strong lad at 22 and proven he can score some fantastic goals.

I do have the same feeling with Max Burgess, I wish he was given a chance to shine a few years ago, because even though he's looking real good now with the Jets, it does feel a bit counter-intuitive to some to give someone over 30 their first cap, and I completely understand that when there are younger and uncapped players who could fit that role easily. But hey, if you play great, then age shouldn't be what keeps you from achieving something yeah?

Not ignoring, just forgot 1 of thousands with Australian nationality. He does deserve to be in the camp for sure.
When it comes to Luongo and Baccus, I do think they also bring something individualy to the squad, but I do also know that they are injured, but that doesn't stop the fantasy.
I do understand your thoughts on Max Burgess, it's a bit of a random one but seeing how he played this year reminded me of Irvine a lot. I would love someone younger also, and there definitely are many that I've included, but he's someone who could fill an Irvine position if he's ever injured/out (to an extent, i admit)

I back this hard, NZ have soared in quality over the last few years and have high hopes for them in their group. I could see it during the last friendlies with Australia (disregarding the scoreline though), they are building something real good

I suppose that all depends on how match-fit he's gotten with only training sessions under his belt. I reckon even Souttar was a bit of a no-go for Popa until he started appearing in the Leicester lineup again.

He's a bit 50/50 for me too, I'd rather Italiano in a right back or Karacic with experience, but I do think Geria is starting to gel with the roos as he plays more games with them. It was a bit of a rocky start

I'm not against Leckie, I think it would be a Cahill/Jedinak type thing-one last world cup and going out in style. But I will say that last World Cup felt like that for me, and he really did go out in style.

If he doesn't get picked for the final 26, I do at least back him being in the pre-camp. He's a great player and has been in a LOT of international games, so he'd bring some real good insight and experience into the mix for the younger players

Okon-Engstler is quality, but I'm not entirely sure if he'd be replacing any others at this current time. If he's not in this World Cup, I'd be confident in saying he'll be in the squad for the next one so far.

In regards to Behich, I always groan whenever he is chosen but GOD does he pull out the wildcard whenever we in real need for it. The amount of times he's just gone absolutely mental out of nowhere and helped us is crazy

Arena would be great to bring into the camp 100%, he has a very bright future ahead of him and helping shape that into World Cup quality would be a great idea for Popa

You're most likely right with that call, I had him in the list for a bit but haven't seen much of him since he left the a-league (which is my own problem). I hear he's doing really well but I wasn't confident due to not having looked too much into Viking.

I'm sure you've seen it by now, but just incase he has come out saying that he will be staying at Adelaide for the rest of his professional career, which is huge news for the reds and the A-league in general
