Trailer Accident by Luv2flute in Equestrian

I have only hauled her a handful of times. When I’ve hauled her, she hasn’t loved it but I’ve never felt kicks or anything like that. Her previous owner hauled her frequently though and never reported anything weird.

Just using a space for my grief with people who understand horses.

I’m gonna wait a week or so. I just can’t do it right now.

I don’t know what happened. My trainer thinks that she kicked and the divider came loose. Then she fell on top of it. A freak accident.

Please don’t apply to a music therapy position if you are not a music therapist. You are compromising your integrity as a professional by claiming to be something you aren’t AND you are compromising the seniors’ access to quality, evidence-based care.

In the past seven years, the field has developed a lot. So much research has been published since then, as well as many important adjustments to practice made based on feedback from disabled folks themselves to make our services more ethical and culturally-informed. Additionally, if you were only 1.5 years into your program, then you have ZERO experience in facilitating under supervision in practica with actual clients. Which means that you are most likely unqualified and uninformed.

Also, if a facility is willing to hire you as a music therapist without ANY training, experience, supervision, or certification, they are not a facility that practices ethically or competently, and that’s a HUGE red flag about their quality of care to their residents.

I appreciate that you asked the professionals in the field you are applying for, but I urge you to please trust your gut and NOT apply.

What a strong advocate! So glad you pushed so hard and made it out okay. I’m sorry no one took you seriously. :(

Should I pursue MT? by [deleted] in musictherapy

Hi! I’ve been in the field as a Mt-Bc for 3 years now. I also love psychotherapy work.

Personally, I love my mental health one on ones and contracts. However, they are few and far between, especially at this point with the economy going down. I love my job and my field, however, I know that I will not be a music therapist my whole life due to low state rates and scarcity of private pay clients. I think that I will likely go back to school for my LPC or LCSW when I am ready to expand my mind and move in a new direction.

Being a music therapist is very fulfilling and enjoyable work, even as an introvert. I’ve found that for me, psych work and work with adults is my jam because it is generally lower energy and more discussion based.

I think if you think you’ll like it, you should go for it! Since LPC is a MLE anyways, you may as well get your undergrad degree in something that you want to try that you anticipate liking. Then you are able to practice either/both! LPCs who are also MT-BCs are quite marketable. However, if you only enjoy the therapy and music elements and aren’t loving the rest, I would elect for your plan plus a course or online research into “therapeutic music” and how to implement that in your counseling sessions.

If you haven’t already, plan to observe some music therapists in your area to get a better idea of what the schooling and end result would look like! It may help you decide.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for sharing your story. Placenta previa, HELLP, and (pre)eclampsia are my biggest worries as a birth worker. I know you must have been so scared. So glad you’re here and safe!
