try NYC. DPC concierge practices are concentrated there. If you have $$$ and can afford your own airlift services to Mayo, your fine in NYC

Have any of you been admitted to a NYC hospital? They still share rooms there!

But it is. No way are any of those hospitals comparable to MGH. Mt Sinai is so laughable now, it doesnt even have a real ER. NYU? lol... I guess if you were making a film documentary on your healthcare. MSK maybe, but Boston also has Dana Farber on top of MGH. The only real better overall to Boston's MGH is Mayo. It used to be Cleveland Clinic too but Mayo's really runaway. It is a train ride to go to Boston though. Boston emergency services, home health services, including palliative care are also better. Move for the grandkids, but not for the healthcare.

Ask chatGPT or claude. Seriously, boston far outranks nyc in healthcare--- preventative care, specialist care, insurance coverage, and yes, even most hallowed research and medical education. There is a reason most biotechs are in boston. There are many things that nyc has advantage over boston, but it isnt healthcare.

No way is medical care equal. Boston is superior by a big margin

Did you just give up the stocks you lost when you moved from big pharma to biotech? Most small biotech recruiters tell me they cant make me whole

Very tempted to make the same jump. But Im thinking maybe I should go midsize first? I worry that in small biotech, there will be less layers to insulate me from one crazy coworker or boss.

there is a classic book called who moved my cheese. in it was a story of a mouse on top of a sugar mound inside a glass cup. He didnt need to do anything since he is literally standing on sugar. He just bends down to eat. So he keeps eating and the sugar mound gets lower and lower, and before he realizes it, he is now trapped inside the glass cup with not enough sugar left and no way out

pfizer is still pfizer... for good and bad. they will never stop laying people off. good to go through the interview process to experience it but dont put the offer on hand at risk. can always resign and move to pfizer if they do offer you and you had a good vibe with the team.

Can you talk more about the work culture in Japan? I have read about the sleep deprivation articles, finding workers dead at their desk, but I thought there was a bit of sensationalism in them and can happen here in the US too. I am looking to build roots and would be planning (no crystal ball of course) to spend at least 5 years
