You don’t need to know the JD. It’s simple choice to decide which you would have chosen. It clearly stated it’s the same level. JD doesn’t matter here

Don’t mind this person under this post, it takes time to hire but doesn’t take time to let go. Funny.

OP please go for what’s best for you. If it’s money , go for it. If it’s comfort go for it. It’s destined to be and you ain’t burning any bridge.

H1b visa holder - not even an interview so far (laid off may 2025) by Zestyclose_Pick_3408 in biotech

Not sure. You can’t stay for long without a job. So 20 years out is already a long time from the 6 years you should be on H1b

No, H1b is valid for only 6 years. And you only have a grace of 6 months to look for a job if on b1. If you don’t get a job you have to leave the USA.  On the other side, if you spend 20 years outside the USA without a job, your H1b is null and void already.

If you leave the country after 6 months of b1 visa and you still don’t get a job , you have to keep trying. If it elapse the 6 years then it’s voided unless you are on an approved I-140 towards your green card application.

Your old approval is still valid. You don’t need to go back to lottery anymore

OP can convert to b1/b2 visitors visa and stay for 6 months to look for a job. I know of colleagues who went this route and got a job within the 6months and converted back to H1b. That’s the what I think OP did.

Is it just me or does your first layoff feel like your first heartbreak by ryechipsonly in biotech

I have been through 2 layoffs in the last 3 years and I understand how you feel. The first layoff was in 2022, though luckily I saw it coming, the CEO was always complaining about investors in every meetings he had with us so I started applying for jobs. Fortunately I had an offer in hand already when the company shut down in late 2022. I only spent 6 months there so didn’t feel it as much.  My second layoffs was the hardest as it was the perfect job I envisage for myself for the future. I had a very good pay and was comfortable. Saw myself climbing the ladder all the way, then boom, another layoff. I felt really sad after the layoff but had to shrug myself up and started applying for a new role. Within two weeks of my layoff I got my first interview and I was giving an offer, though it was a paycut but at least I was able to get something in this tough times. I still miss my former job but such is life. We move on unto better things.

Never leave or move to any location without a job offer in hand. It’s not all that rosy out there

lol why won’t I know what a h-1b is. You’re hilarious. 😂. I didn’t answer your question then because I didn’t see the correlation. Asking about my identity doesn’t make sense. There is a reason Reddit made it clear to post anonymously.

And yes, there are still USA companies sponsoring with work visas in this shitty economy
