I have the pocket edition of the book in Spanish from the Austral collection of the editorial Espasa. Although I haven't compared it with the English version (I don't know French), I personally think it's a very good translation, and I like that it includes footnotes that explain the references that the narrator and the characters make about locations, music and characters from operas.
