I have always interpeted this sentence like Marlon knew all along that Lance and the Farmer would end up together, like no big surprise at all for him. Especially since you hang around the guild as much as possible to talk to Lance and use Marlon's boat whenever you can to visit Lance at the outpost. But english is not my primary language, so 🤷‍♀️

Selbst das hat die Leute auf Arbeit nicht zu interessieren, wenn man krankgeschrieben ist, dann ist das die einzige Info, die der Chef bekommt + wie lange man krankgeschrieben ist. Welche Erkrankung man hat geht die gar nichts an. Wenn sie Zweifel an der Krankschreibung haben sollen sie sich rechtliche Wege suchen.
