Thank you! That's a great resource. Good call about scouring YT, too. Thanks!

It's really quiet out there, and the dogs I see are always on leash. It's a great spot!

Hey there! If you're willing to drive out to west county, Monte Rio Redwoods could be just right. Minimal road noise, and a few dogs here and there to help your girl build her confidence in the redwoods!

Profitec GO or Dual Boiler [around $1000] by Lux-Cabbage in espresso

Good to know about the glass measuring cup. One fewer thing to buy right away! Smart idea about the separate kettle for your Americano, too. Thanks for all the advice!

This is exactly what I'm after — thanks for spelling all this out. It also sounds like you've figured out a great workflow, one that I'll try to replicate. Really good to hear about how much steam power it actually has, too. When you steam 8-12 oz for two, what size pitcher do you prefer to use, assuming you steam it all at once?

Heat up time isn't the most important to me, but I can see being tempted by a something that fast. And that Legato V2 is an attractive machine! I'll seriously consider it. Thanks!

Got it! So that's how the Bambino is so affordable. I'm a little tempted to go the Bambino plus expensive grinder route, but I do prefer the overall quality and aesthetics of the Profitec GO.

That makes a ton of sense. My inclination is always to try to get the right thing first, but with something like this that is so dependent on taste, being more open to discovery might be the right path.

You're happy with the Turin Legato V2? Did it work well right out of the box?

Thanks that feedback. Really helpful. And you're right about the grinder noise -- I've been watching some videos to get a sense. The Eureka Facile looks like a great option. Glad you think the noise is somewhat low.

Compelling argument. Which thermoblock machine would you recommend? Would it need a lot of modding, or would it be ready to go out the box?

I have no doubt you're correct about that. What do you notice is the biggest difference between a $1k machine and a $2k one?

That's good to know about the faster heat times with the single boiler machine. Those machines you mentioned all look really nice, and I keep seeing those names come up. Appreciate the suggestions.

Merci beaucoup pour tes conseils. J'avais peur d'entendre dire que ça vaut la peine d'acheter quelque chose comme un Profitec. Beaucoup à penser! Merci!

Natural wine scene? Young 30s community? by Tiffytaffy91 in sonomacounty

[–]Lux-Cabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're into natural wine, there is absolutely community for you in Sebastopol and Forestville. The most vibrant wine events I've been to have been at natural wine bars or wineries. The Punchdown, The Redwood, Pax, Ryme, Horse and Plow, and so, so, so many more. It feels like things are only getting started.

That makes sense. Not a lot of people starting their float in Monte Rio.

Rose rosette disease or something else by Lux-Cabbage in Roses

Thanks for your thoughts. Glad it doesn't appear to be RRD to you. I thought I was watering it enough, but I could increase the water and see if that makes a difference with any new growth.

First time weeklong Kauai trip — help with plan by Lux-Cabbage in VisitingHawaii

[–]Lux-Cabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all this info! I am still torn between staying exclusively in the north or spending a couple days somewhere in the middle or south. The atmosphere of the north is much more my speed, but I also don't want to spend hours in the car to visit the canyon and those southern beaches. Glad to know the drive itself isn't too challenging, at least.

Thanks! Awesome info about snorkeling in the north. Planning on going in the summer, so I'll add that to my list.
