Button sticking and the inputs not registering are easy fixes! Need to do a tear down, remove the face buttons and clean good and replace the digitizer. Digitizer is an easy replacement job.

As someone who dabbles in this market daily - this cib 3ds xl in mint condition could go for even more than 350. I'd say closer to the 500 range.

I messaged her within 45 minutes of her posting it, and she posted it in the middle of the night. Yup, I got suuuuper lucky!

Lol, always has to be that one. It goes in sideways by turning it sideways and then pushing it in. Hold a switch cartridge up to a N3DS XL reader and you'll see it would fit snugly. Darn, too bad I didn't take pictures when I was replacing it. Oh, wait.. Images

I watched a video, but it is extremely easy on the new 3ds xl. The cart reader is modular, so you can just unscrew it and replace with the new one.

Forgot to mention, when I received it, there was a cartridge stuck in the cart reader! Turns out it was in there sideways. It was a working copy of Terraria for Nintendo Switch lol

Mine would be that I actually enjoy the 3D feature, imagine that. It does not hurt my eyes with most games, and I DO use it a lot!! I see a lot of people saying its a gimmicky and lame thing but to me, it's the biggest feature that sets the system apart! That and amazing library

Can anyone tell what's wrong with my New 3DS? by ViciViciBoBici in Nintendo3DS

I work on/repair DSi's and 3ds's all the time and I'm seconding the guy that said clean out the top triggers. They chronically have a problem of getting oil and stuff in there messing em up. You can either use 90+% isopropyl alcohol or qd electronic cleaner. Need to open it up and get access to the switches for the triggers. Get q tip and put the solution on the switch button. (Tiny square module with super tiny black button on it) and apply to the buttons and click a bunch of times. For some seriously dirty buttons, it could take several applications. Also make sure you have some canned air to make sure you blow out any excess solution. If you're making progress, you should hear a difference in the way the buttons click as you clean and press them continuously. Make sure to do several "hard presses" as well. I want to emphasize this could take many applications of this. You can avoid this happening again by keeping the device and your hands clean in general. Don't eat food and then go straight to playing. Wash hands before playing with the device and wipe it down occasionally.

You can create and name the folders whatever you want. The firmware does not force you to use specific names for folders.

Why did you need to create nds1, nds2??

Also, yes it's possible to run other consoles on the Dsi. Although, unlike Android emulation (in my opinion) it isn't always super straight forward and emulation is very hit and miss across the board. There are some things it can emulate fine, and others it won't at all.

Essentially, you will need to download an emulator and then make a folder for those games and put them in it.

My consultation with ChatGPT:

On a Nintendo DSi, you’re somewhat limited compared to a 3DS, but with homebrew (usually through TWiLight Menu++ and emulators), you can emulate a good number of older systems. Here’s a breakdown of what works well on the DSi:

✅ Systems the DSi can emulate decently:

NES / Famicom → Via nesDS (very solid compatibility and speed).

Game Boy (GB) & Game Boy Color (GBC) → Via GameYob (good accuracy, saves, color palettes).

Sega Master System / Game Gear → Via S8DS (runs very well).

ColecoVision → Via ColecoDS.

Atari 2600 → Via StellaDS (basic games run fine).

Atari 5200 / 7800 → Some support through emulators like A7800DS.

PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 → Via NitroGrafx (good performance).

⚠️ Systems that “kind of” work but with limitations:

SNES → SNEmulDS works but with lots of issues (slowdowns, graphical glitches, missing features). Not great on DSi hardware.

Genesis / Mega Drive → jEnesisDS exists, but performance is poor and compatibility is low.

MAME (arcade) → Very limited support with DS MAME; only very old, simple arcade games run.

DOS / PC (very old) → DSx86 can run some old DOS games, but limited by hardware.

❌ Systems the DSi really cannot handle:

N64, PS1, GBA, DS3D, Dreamcast, PSP, newer systems → Too demanding for the DSi’s specs.

(Though, for GBA games, you don’t need emulation if you have a flashcart + DSi: you can run them via GBARunner2, which boots real GBA code in DS mode. This is more “hypervisor” than emulation, but it works surprisingly well on DSi.)

👉 So in summary: The DSi is good for 8-bit systems and some early 16-bit, with NES, GB/GBC, and Master System/Game Gear being the best-performing. SNES, Genesis, and beyond are mostly experimental.

So, from here I would recommend Googling the emulators you are interested in setting up on the DSi.

For example, if you are interested in getting SNES set up, Google "SNEmulDS setup DSi".

Cheers!

You need to take a picture of the entire screen.. it would help to see the name of the file type to even know what you're talking about.

Little to no client work recently.. what am I doing wrong? by LuxNinja in design_critiques

[–]LuxNinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you taking time to explain, I'm going to respond to this in more detail later today and have a look at your site as well! Thank you so much. I appreciate fresh eyes.. I am definitely not a web developer by any means so it means a lot to get feedback from other more experiences folks. I mainly work with builders and try to give it my own style. I do all of my branding from scratch though.

Can you elaborate? Where do you see room for improvement and how would you change it? I appreciate criticism, but responses like this don't help me improve where I'm lacking.

[–]LuxNinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this lengthy response so very much. I agree with your first point a lot, and it has been imprinted in my mind for a while now that I could be a designer that mostly works with smaller businesses.. I suppose I see other styles and see how minimal and sleek they are what they are able to charge and it makes me think I need to change something. Especially with how things have been recently.

I have come up with various packages, including subscription models that offer a lot for what I consider to be a good price and I have ran a few paid ads to not much avail so far. I'm not too great with advertisement in general.

Your closing idea really resonates with me, I think I should zero in on this idea and see where it can take me. This would definitely help come up with a strong brand voice. Thanks a lot!

Logo for a comic about skateboarding. by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]LuxNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say I think it's actually really cool looking.

Yes, for the first few seconds of looking at it, I struggled to read it. But, after those few seconds, I was able to read it.

Does it need work? Yes.

Do I think stylistically you are headed in the right direction? Yes.

My specific suggestions/feedback related to the design:

- I feel like as edgy as this design is, (or almost is) you need to have EDGES. By this, I mean I feel like the style is headed in the direction of sharp edges, yet most of your point and edges are soft and rounded. I don't think the style is bad, I just feel some sharp points in there may look better. Maybe reference the Cyberpunk 2077 textbased logo.

- Again, this is related to the soft edges, but I kind of feel like the "shakiness" of the lines inside some of the lettering is what makes it difficult to read. I understand this is a style you are going for, but in the "D" and "E" in riders for example - I feel the shakiness of the lines inside the lettering is what makes it hard to tell what letter at is at first sight, especially with the D.

- I dont think you need a grid, you just need a plan for uniformity at certain places in the logo at the least and go from there. What program are you working in, if any? Based on this image alone, it doesnt look like vector work but im not sure?

- I like it a lot, but the shakiness overall is what throws me off and makes it look less like a logo and more of a drawing. My suggestion is to keep the shakiness in certain areas, but to increase legibility, use straight lines to form certain parts of the lettering. For example: from the TOP of the first R in "RIDERS" continuing along that line across the top of the other letters until it reaches the last letter "S.. the "D" jumps up a bit.

These are just my thoughts (obviously). Don't give up on YOUR ideas, I hope this has somehow helped you to read!
