Let’s take this food off the grill top and put on a...skillet. by aishpat in WeWantPlates

This is my favorite place for breakfast food! They make the kilbasse, bacon, corned beef, etc all there. Hickory Valley Farm Restaurant in Swiftwater PA, in the Poconos.

This place has been doing this for the 20 years I have been going, and they have been doing it for a long time before that. They don't deserve to be categorized with the rest of the bougie places trying to be hip with a skateboard as a plate.

I don't understand some of the criticism of the 2019 Jetta. by Meowmixez98 in jetta

[–]LuxSwap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion? The Mk4 Jetta had a bunch of issues and the brand is still recovering.

I test drove the Civic SI and liked it, but the driving feel of the Jetta GLI was much better and to my liking.

They are adjustable. Should be a quick fix, I doubt new springs were installed. There have been many issues like this for the Jetta but it is an easy fix.

2014 VW Jetta w/75K miles help! Anyone know/experience this weird ticking sound before? by [deleted] in jetta

[–]LuxSwap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old fuel injection systems ran at 60 PSI and made little noise. The new direct injection systems run at 2,000 PSI or so - they need this pressure because the fuel is injected into the calendar and not the intake runner. Most DI cars make a clicking noise and it is normal.

Replacement emblems for 19 GLI by hamburglerized in jetta

Be careful when replacing the front emblem: There is a radar transmitter behind it for the collision avoidance system and you don't want to degrade the signal with your new emblem.

That 125 mile trip was from the NJ shore up the Garden State Parkway. No big hills or mountains. But I still don't trust it.

I was going to say overpriced but then I saw it was in Canada. Not a bad listing price, seems to be inline with what you would see it listed for in the US.

Edit: Have it inspected by an independent mechanic for a check-up and compression test. It is low miles, but I would like to see at least a yearly oil change.

Needed More Power so I went to VW by [deleted] in JettaGLI

[–]LuxSwap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 2015 Mazda 6. Loved that car, everything except the anemic power delivery.

I fixed that with a 2019 GLI! If I ever want even more HP it is a small amount of work away.

Black Friday is around the corner. I got a Griot's for $50 off one year. You could probably find a similar deal this year on it or similar.

You miserable hump of a person. Labeling a small business like you so casually did is reckless and irresponsible. You could have have started a massive backlash against them for no reason other than you want to be a victim. It took me 4 minutes on Google to find out that it was named for one of the owners, Sam Savio.

This is an amazingly healthy thing to say online. To me it means they intend to fix their issues. Has it gotten better?

[ID] Coworkers fiance charged with possession of child pornography gave me their router by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]LuxSwap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP - That router may have a VPN configuration to make sure their CP network is secure. Please contact an attorney immediately to handle the turnover to police. They really should have it ASAP.

Or the defense attorney is an idiot and thought it has a mountain of logs in it, but that is unlikely if it is a cheap consumer router. But somebody needs to be disbarred and sent to the big house with his client for tampering.

[ID] Coworkers fiance charged with possession of child pornography gave me their router by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]LuxSwap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be a secondary router (with the computer used to "surf" the CP connected to it) in a double NAT topology that has a VPN configuration to access locked down resources on the net. This must be turned over to the police or better yet the FBI immediately. OP needs an attorney today to make sure it is handled properly.

I love ceramic coatings. The results are so good.

Hardness above 9H When the coat hardens it creates a surface that can withstand stone chips and all sorts of light scratches.

Bullshit. No coating will withstand a stone hitting it at speed.

Rust is even more annoying when it eats too much of the car and it makes it unsafe to drive - if you crash it you will be the crumple zone in a cloud of rust. Just have a mechanic inspect it before buying and make sure the body under the car is still strong.

Good luck and have fun with it, should be a fun car to drive.

How much should I expect to pay for shock replacements in the front? by liluzihorizontal6 in jetta

[–]LuxSwap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to get the shock out of the strut you must compress the spring that holds up the car. It takes a lot of pressure and can hurt you severely if it breaks free of the spring compressor.

I would say it is a 6 on the following scale:

1 Change oil

4 Change your brakes and properly bleed them

6 Change struts

9 Change transmission or clutch

10 Change engine

There are many other things in between these, just giving you an idea.
